New horizons !!

Such a lot has happened here recently that I don't know where to start.

Some of you know that the house is for sale and we were planning to come back to the U.K. to live in Cornwall. I so wanted to live in Cornwall.

All that has changed apart from the house being for sale.

For a lot of reasons that I don't want to make public we are staying in Spain. All good, happy reasons.

One that I feel able to share is that we have been asked to live in a friends, beautiful,fabulous but very neglected house. They have been away for 8 years and are not able to come back. The house has been broken into and ransacked . It is such a shame.They do not want to ell it at this point.

The Belgium people who wanted our house disappointingly didn't complete. We have an English family coming to look on Saturday. Fingers crossed.

I am upset not to be coming back to my roots but this way perhaps I can have the best of both worlds as we will invest in a small apartment in Cornwall so that I can come and go and get my English, my friends and family fix a few times a year and eventually retire there.

As long as you'll be happy that's the main thing. I hope that the English couple buy you're house everything crossed for you.

You'll have a project on your hands but knowing you you'll enjoy it!

Cornwall is Beautiful, but then again so is Spain!

I'm sure you'll get that lovely house back up and running in no time!

Anyway would you have been able to bring all of the animals back to the UK with you? At least if you have a little apartment or cottage you can come and go when you please (and when the weather will be good!).

I'm certain things will turn out good for you in the end Sue. whatever you decide and wherever you end up! xx

Gosh, big changes for you. Sorry to hear that things aren't working out with the house sale. So frustrating. And how awful what the thieves did to the house. That's just disgusting.

I know it means resetting your expectations on what life is going to be like in the next few months but I'm glad that (you say) it's all happening for good reasons. Hopefully that means it is the right thing for you both and you are obviously happy there. Our loss is Spains gain

I was not happy when I was first faced with having to make the decision, far from it.

I love England and most things English and can not envisage not returning eventually.

The thing that tipped the scales was that I will be able to visit often until we return.

I think we will meet Hilary as we are toying with the idea of a small place in Brittany or Cornwall......................... Brittany is coming out on top as far as finances are concerned, we would get so much more for our money and we could go together and take the dogs and I could hop on to a ferry to see Gill in Cornwall. If we buy in Cornwall we would get a lot less for our money and not be able to go together............or...................should we invest in an apartment here and do holiday rentals...................

I am sure that our decision has been the right one.....................but tonight we have decided to buy somewhere in Cornwall as an investment property that will be waiting for us when we are able to return.

It sounds like it could be the best of both worlds lovely girl - and despite the additional work we know how much you and hubby will enjoy putting the Spanish house lovingly back together again and creating a home for you and the menagerie! On top of that, imagine the fun trips to Cornwall while you house shop!!

Nothing is certain Hillary. I am reeling with shock a the prices of a decent-ish apartment in Cornwall mega bucks compared with a nice little house with a decent sized plot of land in Brittany........


HELP !!!! what do we do..................

The guy who is interested in buying the house has just phoned from Alicante Airport to say he as just arrived back from Amsterdam and they are coming tomorrow afternoon after we have finihed work , to see the house..............

Sue hope you can choose whats best for you and your OH (and all your animals of course), good luck with sorting out all the details.

Hi there Sue, I'm back on the wagon, again. I've gained half of my loss (5kg) since last year , so I would like to loose it before holidays in August.
Family's doing well, my wife has recently taken up horse riding and my eldest daughter is going to do her first heathland ride on Sunday.
Sounds like you've got a lot going on at the mo, hope everything works out well for you and yours , here's some good vibes which may help in some small way :vibes:
