3 different readings from scales

I had my normal weigh in at home this morning and the 1st reading showed a fairly large gain. Ive had a good week and just feel there is no way I could have put that much on ( im the 1st to admit a bad week and a deserved gain) so I weighed myself again and got a different reading. 3rd weigh in gave yet another reading 4th agreed with the 2nd weigh in as did the 5th. I know 5 weigh ins are excessive but I was trying to get an average weight if that makes sense. I have chosen to go with the 3/5 results. Am I doing the right thing? What would happen in class if I was weighed and said no way I want to do that again. Would I be allowed to weigh again? Will this all balance itself out next week? Im not in the habit of "questioning" the scales as they are pretty accurate but seriously dont think I would have gained as much as the 1st reading said. Very confused:confused::sigh:

I have said in class are you sure? and have been weighed again but it made no difference! at home though I have to callibrate my scale by standing on then getting off and the first weight is always 3lb more, but any weight after that is correct, they weigh me the same as the ones in class.

Getting different readings if you weigh more than once in a row is a sure sign that your scales aren't working properly.

If your scales are battery operated, it sounds to me as if you might need a new battery! I find that scales start acting up when the battery is running low.

If your scales are mechanical, then I think it's time for some new scales!
