As you know I own a small support site for anyone who has breast cancer.
The saddest part is when members who, like on here become cyber friends and in a lot of cases friends in the real world, die.
One such real life friend who lives near Washington D.C. and has stayed here with us in Spain is stage 4. Stage 4 is really serious but she is such fun and such a doer. She has mets in her bones and recently has been crippled with pain and walking on crutches with great difficulty.
She went in for surgery on her spine yesterday and this is the e -mail I received from her husband last night.
I am pleased to report that Ellen is out of surgery and has come through with flying colors, according to her surgeon. He said that he lifted the bottom most vertebrae (the L-5) and the pressure on her nerves has been relieved, although we will have to wait to see how successful the surgery was - TOTALLY - is my hope. The surgeon also said that the deterioration in the vertebrae was due to ARTHRITIS and NOT CANCER. He also said that the was impressed with the bone strengthening medicine she has been taking since here bone was as hard as it could be. He even broke a grinding wheel on her bone, which he had never done before.

How amazing is that. We are so thrilled for her. Perhaps now her life will be a little more free from pain............
