I have a few questions regarding low carb diets and "ketosis"

After half term, I'm thinking of doing a high protein and low carb diet. So I have a few questions...

-How long does it take to get your body into ketosis mode?

-How many grams of carbs do you need to get into ketosis?

-How much weight do you lose each week when you're in ketosis?

-If you began to eat more carbs after a low carb diet (but still stuck to a normal amount of calories) would you gain a lot of weight back?

Thank you!

Hiya

1)It takes 2-3 days for carbs to get out of your system
2)I would say stick to 20g carbs or under to get into ketosis on the safe side (that's based on Atkins)

3)Depends on the body - people with more weight to lose will lose more, but if you lose between 6-9 pounds over 2 weeks you're doing good.
I lost 7 lbs in first week

4) No..I did this and lost 1lb in first day

see above :D

Personally, i don't see the value in aiming for ketosis. On a high protein diet, ensuring your carbs are about 50-100gs daily will generate sufficient weight loss without the need to suffer the bad breath and the myriad of potential side effects.

It will also most likely be easier to maintain and allows for some flexibility. But at the end of the day I guess it is about what works for you, so the above advice is sound
