Full English Breakfast

Morning all,

My parents (who are also doing SW) have said that I can't go out and meet my friend Natalie for breakfast down the local tea rooms. A nice full English Breakfast. Not that my dad stuck to his syns yesterday! 2 glasses of wine, 2 slices of bread ontop of his HEXB, a millies cookie and I sure there was something else in there!

Now I can see there point. But I have had a stressful week doing CIMA accountancy exams, and I have stuck to healthy eating all of the last week. So I feel I need this treat to reward myself :D

Just ofcourse got to make sure it doesn't quickly turn into a day of naughtiness, which as a habit of turning into a week! lol

If you are cooking at home then a full English, minus fried bread, is fine 'cos you can grill and dry fry. Guess the tea room breakfast would all be fried so lots of syns???

I dont blame you at all for wanting brekkie and glad you enjoyed it. One tip i would suggest is try not to think of food as a reward or treat. You worked really hard on your exams but also worked hard to do so well with your weight loss too! How about treating yourself to something else like a cd dvd new clothes etc.

doesn't hurt now and again to have a ablast as long as you start back asap. Hope you enjoyed it. Dribbling at the thought!!

Full english breakfasts can be very healthy :)

I made mine this morning (Veggie style)
- A grilled tomato
- A handful of grilled mushrooms
- 400g tin of baked beans
- 4 Poached eggs
- 5 Grilled quorn bramley bangers

Very filling, and all for free! (Not quite fitting in the 1/3 rule, but never mind)

Flipping 'eck - that's a big brekkie! If you change the baked beans for tin tommies you would be a little more on track for the 1/3 rule ... ;)

5 sausages! Wowzers!

When i am on track i always allow myself 1 meal a week that i don't count/point/syn. It reminds me that i CAN do this for life and i can have "bad" foods. Just work them into the week and it can be done :)

Why do you need the 1/3 rule?! Unless on extra easy for the rest of the day!?

CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, PS3 games aren't rewards for me as I buy want ever I want.

Granted I did stop buying that stuff during my revision periods for my exam. So postman will be busy delivering stuff to me this week!

I ended off plan for the last 3 days. Possibly because of that meal, when it certainly was the start!

Was confused with the bit about your parents saying you couldn't go for the meal and wonder if that could have actually been more of a trigger for the 3 days off plan? Bit of amateur psychology maybe but people telling me I shouldn't eat stuff used to make me rebel against it.
Hope you are back on track now though x

Nope. It's gone to 4!

Heh, good idea - I might try that next time :)

I keep reading threads on here from people who say there's no such thing as over-eating with free foods on SW, although something in the back of my mind tells me I probably do!

In all honesty, I'm still a bit new to all this :) I thought the 1/3 rule applied to all the plans, but it seems like I'm wrong!

Then again, despite my efforts to change my ways and more fruit+veg (I don't think I quite manage 1/3 at most meals), my progress feels kind-of slow (avg 1lb per week so far). If I wasn't pushing myself to do that, I think my appetite would go even more crazy with all the starchy 'free' foods.

You are doing just fine hun ... 1lb a week is an excellent consistent weight loss.

How are you finding it? Are you hungry at all?

It's true that you don't need to aim for 1/3 superfree on Red and Green but it certainly promotes good habits and helps give your diet some balance.

Keep up the good work! Use this website for some inspiration if you need it ... there are some excellent food diaries to pinch some ideas from.

Ali - Thanks for the encouragement! I'm getting on well with eating mainly free foods, but the hardest part is working in an office filled with people who bring in lots of cakes on an almost-daily basis. I suppose the mammoth sized meals get me so full up that I don't have any room for cakes :)

I don't go hungry at all, but I've always had a massive appetite, and usually eat meals using a bigger-than-average sized plate (which is always heaped full). The last time i really reduced the amount which I ate, I was always hungry and eventually gave up after a few months only to put it all back on again - so I'm determined not to make that same mistake twice!

I've taken this week off deliberately to get my act together without all the food distractions in work. My mini-goal for this week is to get the superfree habit nailed down and drop more than 1lb without reducing how much I eat.
