So as you all prob know i have lost 17 stone since feb 2009 maintained for about 6 months give or take a few pounds. i went for my surgeon meet today and he has agreed on doing the tummytuck procedure no problems and put me on the waiting list which he gave me the number to call them and ask for a date.

I rung and she asked if i had holidays booked any time soon and i said no. so was given a date for the op on the 7th july. i go in the day before and also attend a preop appointment on the 22nd june to make sure im fit/healthy enough for surgery.

i am nervous excited and a little down.
because of my huge loss they cant preform a classic hip to hip tummy tuck as i have lot of loose skin in the middle too so i will need in effect a cross cut so they can tighten up and across meaning a scar down the middle and across my hip.

Now im not sure how i feel about that i know that having that loose skin all gone will be amazing and ill be able to do more things without feeling restricted but i didnt imagine id have so much scarring. i guess i will get around that and the scar will fade in time... plus i can have tattoos to hide it eventually LOL.

So yeah just over a month and ill be having the surgery..

scary!!

Wow you should be so proud of yourself, i am now on the waiting list for my tummy tuck, but i still have 3 1/2 stone to lose.
My gp referral could take upto 18 months so plenty of time for me to lose and maintain.
I like you would have lost in total 10 stone when i get to target so far it has taken 4 years a long hard slog but worth it.
Good luck with your op. x

Fab news Kiira xx My GP wants me below a BMI of 25 before she'll refer me, so hopefully not long to go lol
Hope all goes well hun xxx

fantastic news, and the scaring will fade in time, talking from my c-section experiences! good luck, I'm sure you will feel amazing after x

How exciting! Wishing you all the luck in the world! :)
xx

Congrats -- and I agree with Gemma. I had to show my new OB/Gyn my c-section scar because it is so faint (it has been 12 years -- but it faded within two or three to almost invisible).
Also, there are dead sexy one peices with the sides cut out that think look better on almost everyone that a plain 2 piece swimsuit.

Congratulations

Wow Piink
I'm sure you must be feeling a little nervous, but i know this is the final bit you have been waiting for. Lucky you've got an appointment quite soon, not too much time to dwell on it.
You are young and as all the other ladies have said I'm sure your scars will fade well. With your positive attitude I know you will be fine.
Also loving the Avatar pic. I haven' seen it before. Looking good hun. xx

Good luck with the op Pink! Lucky you to have the appointment so soon too! After everything you have done to achieve where you are now you deserve great success with this op.

Im sure you are feeling nervous about it and the outcome, and whilst it may not be everything you initially hoped for im sure its going to make a drastic difference. Im sure you will love the results, even if you do have a bit more scar than you hoped, and you are young enough for the scars to fade well. A tattoo later is a fantastic idea, if you feel it needs disguising.

Good luck! will be thinking of you!

Hi Lynn and SlendaBlenda --

It is good to see you both posting.

I also wanted to recommend cocobutter for the scar -- and there are new bandages that are designed to reduce scarring.

I know someone who has used a product like this following breast reduction surgery and swears it was miraculous. And, I guess you end with a lot of scars from this type of surgery.

Well done Pink, everything will be fine for sure :)

That's good to hear Kiira, you deserve it love.

Wow. What you've done is amazing! Congratulations. Good luck with the surgery. I hope it all goes well and the scaring fades to nothing very soon.

thankyou everyone , its getting closer and closer and im getting more nervous but i am glad im having it done...

hope everyone is good?.x

Thanks for asking -- I'm making a little progress towards getting back on track.

I am sure you'll be fine. Do you know anyone who has this done? Perhaps, you could talk them about what to expect.

I didn't realise that you can have tummytuck on NHS. What's the criteria to get on the waiting list? Good luck for your operation I will be watching this space:D

It varies from PCT to PCT as to what they will pay for, etc. However, usually you need to be below a bmi of 25 and have maintained your loss for sometime. The excess flesh should NEED to be removed -- it has to be more than just cosmetic. Usually, the people who qualify for a TT on the NHS have a lot of excess skin that stays damp and has sores, etc.

There is a forum for surgery after weight loss and it is explained pretty well on there.

Thank you, that was very helpful:D

Hi Pinkpunk

Good luck with the pre-op and surgery. I will be interested to see how you get on as my tummy tuck is pencilled-in for September. I'm somewhere between excited and terrified at the moment!

All the best
