Help please really struggling..

big bear

A bear on a mission!
I've been doing SW for about 16 weeks from home on my own with the help of my buddies (you lot). My mum & sister are also doing it so each week we keep in touch & share our losses/gains etc (they're in Ireland).

I lost 1lb this week which is fab but I keep bl**dy sabotaging myself. I'm not eating my fruit/veg, going over my HEX's (mostly an extra slice bread/weetabix/alpen lights etc) & over my syns. I'm not drinking enough water etc etc

At the moment I'm suffering a lot of pain with a tooth abscess so couldn't be bothered to cook so got fish & chips

I just can't get my head back in the zone, i know I can do it & I see how fantastic all of you are doing & then I feel jealous/guilty etc...

I think I need to join a class but at the moment I'm not working & H is the only money coming in so not sure we can afford it (although that's what I spent on fish & chips!) It's trying to fit class around the wee ones as they are mostly at 7.30 in the evening & that's when I put my son to bed.

I don't really know what I want you to say to me etc just what some support really or a kick up the bum or some advice really.

Should I join a class again? Maybe if I know I'm weighing in at a class I'll be good.

How much is a 12 week countdown?

I've ideally another 2 stone to lose...

Hey, I'm in the same boat. I don't have any advice but I think it is abou5 making sure u r in the right place in ur head if that makes any sense. I'm starting again tomorrow. We can help each other if u like x

Some tough love coming. You can't afford a class, okay that's understandable, but can you afford to not eat the fruit and veg you're buying and going over your HEx's? With that out of the way...

What's your trigger? Why are you derailing yourself?

Do you have breakfast and regular meals? Are you hungry in-between and then making bad choices? Is your wee one running you ragged so you're eating more to keep energised? Are you bored and bored eating? (I'm a boredom eater :( )

What about planning a day the night before like tonight, and stick to it. Just that one day. You only need to do a day at a time, break it down into chunks. If a day's too long, take it a meal at a time.

I find getting back on track writing the next day out and then sticking it on the fridge, for that one day if it's not on the list it's not getting eaten.

Just a thought, are you on anti-biotics for your tooth? Sometimes I find they can make me more hungry.

Hope this helps some and your tooth feels better soon. :)

Hey sweetie, it's so so easy to be derailed, we've all been there. Having a buddy, someone u can PM and share ur reality with really helps, it has helped me the past while. But there really is no substitute for making ur mind up to stick to it & going for it, can u set a mini goal, one fairly easy to get? I find once the first win is achieved the momentum slowly gathers & the motivation grows and then it snowballs with each mini victory! I can't get to class easy either so I picked a weigh in day (sat), joined the wi club on here and weigh myself every Sat faithfully and post my result. I'm a maintainer so am lucky to only have to pop to class once a mth or so. Also vary what u eat & try a new recipe at least once a week, doesn't have to be expensive. Good luck, break the cycle & I'm happy to help if u need me toots xx

Hiya big bear, I've been in the same place the last couple of days.

You don't have to join a class, particularly if the funds/time are not there to do so. Even if you do, it's ultimately down to you. My plan is to start afresh as soon as possible; just put everything you've already done behind you, nothing can change it now - what's done is done.

The unfortunate thing I've learnt about self-sabotage is how easy it is to talk yourself into and rationalise it...but it can be tricked.

1. You want chocolate/sweets/biscuits/fast food? You can have it after you've had your low syn/syn free meal, some fruit and a glass of water...chances are you'll be too full for it. Even if you aren't, it'll definitely make you think twice.

2. Stick a before picture of yourself on your fridge to look at and remind yourself of your goals daily.

3. Keep yourself busy...do not underestimate the power of boredom snacking...I thought it was complete tosh and that I was somehow immune until I realised I was doing it...:sigh:

4. Have enough things ready to make something healthy at a moments notice. I can't tell you how many times I've "talked" myself into buying junk because it would "take too long to cook".

In addition - plan, plan, plan your meals. Not necessarily a week in advance, you can do it day to day.

5. Eat at regular intervals. Don't miss breakfast! I think 3 meals and 2-3 snacks a day is the right idea - every 3-4 hours. Don't give your body time to feel "starving", because you know what happens then - all good intentions go flying out the window.

You've been doing this for 16 weeks, which is no small feat. Think of this as a "blip" not forever. For example, I KNOW I've gained, and I deserve it, because I let it snowball...but I'll be damned if I'm putting 3st+ back on. Not. Gonna. Happen.

We can do this! :hug99:

I think it's a lot of things...

Dealing with a terrible 2 year old and a baby it's getting 'me time' both wake up at 6am. As i have the 2 of them it's getting time to cook as I can't leave them both together for too long as the 2 year old terrorises the baby lol..

I seem to be fine up until the evening then I get tired and yes probably bored as the kids & H is in bed as he works nights so I spend every evening on my own.

I should use this time to cook but as I'm so knackered I just want to chill out then it's scoffing time.

Also I was on anti-depressants as I wasn't coping very well.

I try now each evening to go for a half hour walk once I know wee ones asleep but can't leave for too long in case baby wakes up.

I'm not sure what's derailing me I think it's a combination of all of these things or are they just excuses. I think after WI on a Monday i've done well & lost or STS so i can have a treat then it goes over syns so I say lets start again Tues & then I sabotage myself again.

I like to do red days so I need to get quick easy recipes to cook. Also as H doesn't have his dinner in the evening (as asleep) I find it hard to cook for 1..

I think I just need to get my head back into it. I've lost a good amount but I can't 'see' that I've lost even though I bumped into an old neighbour today 7 she said blooming heck you've lost a load of weight. As I've only gone down in some things one size I can't see it so I'm getting fed up.

Thanks for the support guys..

Lisa I'll add you as a friend & maybe we can try & keep each other on the straight & narrow.

Lexie - not long to the baba is here exciting times!

Christiana - You are doing so well

BBx

How about doing some slow cooker recipes, you can shove meat, veggies and differnt herbs/spices together and leave alone. Then when it's dinner time... it's ready and theres mountains, so some can be fridged/frozen til you need it again. Also, maybe for ease do some EE/Green days as you can do things like cous cous and micro veggies etc that's ready in mins and tastes YUMMY. Make sure you have lots of nice low syn/syn free things that are grab and go, cooked chicken pieces (Tesco's Flame grilled, Tikka & hot & Spicy are free), boiled eggs or SW Quiche, make a huge fruit salad during afternoon sleepy time and have that to snack on. Just give yourself some space time wise... do quick easy things, that can be left on a low boil and do extra so you can always have something ultra easy in the fridge or freezer. You can do this! It's just about making it more effort to slip up than to follow plan. ;)

We lead very similar lives!! I have a 3 and 4 year old who get up at 6am every day. My evenings are also spent by myself as my husband works until 10pm and my children are in bed by 7(not knocking this though, I love the peace and quiet!)
I also have a bad tooth ache at the moment. Had an absess which cleared up but it set off my wisdom teeth and now I cant eat anything on my left side of my mouth! Really puts me off eating fruit! i am used to cooking for 1 but maybe cos I do green days, i find its easy to put a potato in the oven, or some pasta on.
I have been very bad lately, put on 7lb, which is half of what i have lost, so I feel a little demotivated as well. But am ploughing through and have kept to plan all week. I tend to keep my syns for a wine in the evenings, and so green help me as i dont tend to snack.
I also weigh in at home, with a friend of mine who also has gone off the rails lately! There are no groups where I live, so weigh in at a class is not an option for me. But I dont feel that Im missing out. The books, magazines and this forum are a great source.
Keep up the good work, we are in it together!!
