Thoughts, ideas, suggestions!

Hi everyone, as the title says I am just looking for some thoughts, ideas, suggestions lol! I have been doing SW since January and attending class on a Wednesday night. I lost 15.5lb in exactly three months which was for my wedding on the 6th of May. I have since put 7lb back on on honeymoon meaning I need to lose around 2.5 stone.
Anyhoo basically I dont think I want to go to class anymore. I work 32 hours a week over 4 days and have a 15 month old. I want to go the gym one night and two nights I have to leave early to pick LO up from nursery. I'm struggling to fit the 32 hours in but on a Wednesday I could work a little later if I didnt go to class. Also I am not convinced I get much from it.
So, I'm thinking about getting OH to weigh me on a Wednesday morning and having some sort of star chart/graph up at home to fill in. Does anyone do something like this? Any ideas on ways of recording? Also where do you write down what you eat? Is it worth joining SW online maybe?
Thanks for reading x x x

Hiya Hun.

I know how you feel. Even though I don't have a kiddie, I try to fit in 37 5hrs in over 5 days plus I've been doing extras to cover sickness and annual leave. I've decided to try to go to class for the motivation although I doubt I'll be staying to the groups all the time. I've been looking at SW on-line. It looks really good. There's a place where u plot your weight loss, a food diary to record in, recipes, syn calculator + at the mo I think there's an offer on. The only difference I can see is if u have a problem u speak to a counselor over the phone instead of in class + being in a group with people in the same boat as you. Good luck with your decision chick and let me know how u go. Xxxxx

I do the same and when i get to my goal i'll get my money back!! At the end of the day, classes are motivating if thats what you need but they dont actually do anything for you, you do the hard work!! so in theory, you're paying £5 just to be weighed. if you think you're determined enough to go it alone then I think thats best and theres plenty of people on here to give you a shove when you need one :)

I think you will be struggling with motivation... If you are already struggling because of long hours, then before long you will be struggling to find time to do the diet, and then put weight on not knowing why and then be struggling again.

I started the diet with two friends- both of whom for similar reasons to yours have quit classes- and I am the only one still doing it. One of these friends lives with me- and I have asked her several times if she wanted to do diet stuff with me and she keeps postponing it. It's now more than 3 weeks since she quit and it does not look like she will be getting back on track anytime soon...

You don't want to go to class because............

You say you don't have the time, yet classes only last 1.5 hours not really much time to fit into your week.

Personally I think it would be nice to have a little time on your own doing your own thing. Why don't you get much out of your class? Do you always stay? Paying £5 just to get weighed is a waste of money. At class everyone is there to support, encourage & help you on your journey. Yes you get lots of support on here but you don't have a regular time & date to 'check in'.

How long do you honestly think weighing at home will last.

I personally don't think you want to give 100% to losing weight at the moment, so if your mind isn't in the right frame, don't do it. Wait until you really do want to lose weight then go to class & get all the support you need there.

I dont mean to sound rude but why would you assume I dont want to give 100% just because I'm uncertain whether or not to go to class. There are a number of people on here who weigh in at home for one reason or another and I am sure that they still give 100%. I think that it is a little unfair to make that judgement. It's not about how long the class lasts, it's that it's the only day I can currently work late and I need to squeeze the hours I have to do in to four days. Also I feel a little guilty not seeing my daughter on a Tuesday or Wednesday and I feel it is more beneficial to go the gym on a Tuesday than SW on a Wednesday. Anyway like I say I don't want to sound rude but I feel that your comments are a little unfair.

I joined sw online I don't go to class and I do, well did give 100%

I lost 2.5 stone in a little over three months. I went off plan a little for a few months but only gained 3lb and am now back on 100%

In some ways you need to be more committed doing it from home cos you don't have to have someone else see your losses/gains each week. Thats why the weekly weigh in teams on here are great.

You can do sw from home v successfully, if you have a busy life, as I do too, then meal planning is really crucial.

Go for it you've nothing to lose but the weight and you already know sw works.

I do SW online because I didn't fancy classes but I wanted to be doing SW "officially"! I use the scales at my gym to weigh in each week. I don't think the online service is particularly fantastic, to be honest, but I like the routine of logging in my weight etc. and so not technically doing it by myself. I actually found it demotivating in the past to be weighed by someone else - if I thought I might gain, I'd just skip class and generally go off the rails entirely.

I think you just have to do what works for you! I don't really write down what I eat, but you could always buy a small diary and keep track of your food in that.

I'm so sorry I didn't mean my comments to sound unfair, but IMO you sounded like you'd already decided to give up class.

When I started SW back in January 2010 I did quite well on my own, when it started to wane I started classes and that helped (then with a hysterectomy booked etc I got sidetracked).
I feel for me that going every week is important to me, I don't skip for any reason, I even went yesterday with a migraine that was wearing off!

if you really want to do it then you will, wether you attend class or do it at home, good luck on whatever you decide :)

I dont go to class and am more determined week by week to carry on! My hubby weighs me every sat morn and i post the outcome on my facebook page good or bad! keeps me inline (so far) :)

I went to classes for a while but I really didn't get anything out of them. The consultant wasn't much good tbh, not very supportive and let people talk over her. I picked up far more hints and tips on here than I did at group and lost 2 stone. If you're dedicated you'll lose no matter whether you go to group or not.

There are a number of groups on here who weigh on certain days of the week, so why not join one of them and report your losses every week? It's another form of support as well.

Good luck - you can do it!

I do it from home too! I have 3 kids who are 4,2 and 3months. I don't work but I rarely have time to go for a wee in peace let alone get to class :giggle:. I'm in my 7th week now and so far have had 1 planned day off (son's christening) and I still managed to lose that week. I can't remember who said it (apologies) but I agree that you will succeed if you WANT to. Half the battle is getting into the right mental state. When I joined this site I started a diary and that makes me feel accountable, also joined the Thursday weighers too, again which makes me feel accountable. If you feel you need someone to bump heads with from time to time, feel free to PM me or drop into my diary :) Good Luck!!
