Hi

ive just started watching my calorie intake reading the back of every packet obsessively trying to stay under 1200 cals a day?

Thing is i have only been doing this for a week now im really snappy, im really moody with husband and crave chocolate like mad!!!

Been popping malteasers:D

am i harming myself? and does weightloss mess with your hormones?:(

I could be wrong but I don't think 1200 calories is enough even when (calorie counting) dieting. You might be better asking on the calorie counting forum rather than the vlcd one, though.

In answer to your question, though, being hungry does make me grumpy :-(

sorry im new, there are soo many diff parts not sure what bit to post in yet!!lol

ill have a look around and get my bearings.......

Correct me if I am wrong but I think on average a woman uses 2000 calories a day, this is found on most packets. 1200 calories is not that low if you trying to achieve a good weight loss each week. I am on 400 calories a day and losing every week. :D

But the op is calorie counting you're doing LT there's a big difference. From your post it could be taken that you're eating 400 k cals a day

1200 is a sensible amount for calorie counting

Sorry, if I didn't make myself clear:eek:

"A doctor suggested a 400-calorie diet? Are you sure she didn't misunderstand him? That's extremely low...
400 calories per MEAL, would be 1200 a day, and perfectly reasonable
It could be dangerous to be on 400 a day for more than a very short time"

Try tbis menu -
Breakfast: 1 egg; 1 slice toast; 1 orange or apple

Lunch: sliced turkey or chicken - green salad with lemon juice or low-calorie dressing

Dinner: steamed or BBQ turkey, chicken, fish - 2 types of steamed vegetables

Snacks: sugar-free popsicles and jello

how do you live on 400 calories a day like what do you eat?

Im very grumpy when I'm hungry :)

No, an average sized woman has a BMR of 2000 calories.

But if you're bigger, you have a much higher BMR. If you're smaller, you have less. Packaging is very misleading like that.

im an obsesser for calorie counting but im not sure whatis healthy for weightloss, my intake ranges from 700 to 1400 and i hate it when i read 1400 i feel thats to much even though thats silly too
