Habitual eating

I've just nipped to the fridge at work to get my blackberries and greek yoghurt and for the first time ever I stopped to think. I realised that I'm not hungry and I'll feel bloated if I eat now - so I put it back.

I've just developed a habit of looking for something to eat around this time rather than eating if I'm hungry.

It's kind of interesting isn't it when you examine the reasons why and when we eat? I wasn't going to have anything off plan - its just that I don't need to eat just yet.

Hmmm, interesting,,,,,,:hmm:!

I totally agree, it's like at dinnertime if I'm not hungry then I don't eat rather then usual in my head I would feel like I'm missing out even though I'm full already!!

I think that SW has really taught me aswell that there are so many lovely free things to eat that I don't have room to be eating yummy baileys ice-cream anymore( god I just ADORE it umm) i actually struggle to use my syns somedays!

The freedom of the plan amazes me still 3stone on!!

Hmm, I haven't got as advanced as not eating at dinner time yet. Maybe I can work up to that!

Neither have I! But yesterday I had a friend over and found I could happily watch them eat a chunk of fruit cake whilst I ate a banana, and then put the rest in the freezer for another time. A few months ago that cake wouldn't have seen the light of another day. Isn't it wonderful? :)

Thats just brilliant woodmouse, all these little steps make a difference, and how proud of yourself you must have felt would def out-weigh how yummy that cake would have tasted!

Haha i wouldnt recommend purposely trying to not eat dinner, you wake up hungry in the morning but i just find when i listen to my body, it tells me when to eat. I drink 4 litres of water a day so keeps me quite full too

I have what i call the 9pm habit. Each evening around 9pm i want to munch on something (usually the craving is Doritos.....!) and i have had to get mullers, curly wurlys, fruit and suchlike ready to have at that time as otherwise i get all grumpy!

I even have this habit if i have eaten my evening meal late....i just think its in my head! x

Ellebear I'm exactly the same at the same time too! Weird! I put my little girl to bed shower etc then when I sit down I feel like I need crisps or chocolate or a sandwich even if I have a big tea it's boredom for me I think and I hardly ever give in anymore but I did last night had slice of fresh White bread and butter! I'm working til 8 tonight so hopefully It won't happen tonight! X

Thanks Chiefbridesmaid! Actually I didn't feel any pride in myself at all - I just didn't care, even though I enjoyed the smell of the cake. I too find nowadays if I listen to my body it not only tells me when to eat, but also what it really needs at the time. And yes, drinking enough water is a huge bonus!

I too have the munchies at night. Our c also said nightime is bad for her also. I always save my syns for the evening, and I really like to have my 2 alpen lights then too as a heb, rather than use my heb up earlier on cereal or bread. Wonder why we are like this, and I also use the rest of my milk allowance up with a choc options of an evening

Ellebear and Hollysnan - I am the same too. I will often have a late evening meal (for practical reasons) and then all my syns and sometimes Hex's too. I worry that it isn't good to be having probably 1/2 - 2/3 of my daily calorie intake after 9pm but then at least it's working so I don't want to rock the boat !

I always have treat time. It hasn't affected my losses and I enjoy it. So I will keep doing it!

Our c told us it really doesnt matter if you have yr syns or the munchies at night so long as its within the plan, time doesnt matter. So we can all munch away content in the knowledge we are still losing weight!
