When should I call goal?

Hey everyone, hope this finds you well :)

I have a little problem that I never thought I'd have to ask - when should I call goal?

At 5'2.5, I started off on the 1st of December 2010 (5 and a half months ago) at nearly 13 stone, and I'm now after a healthy diet and exercise, one pound over 8 and a half stone - a full stone less than my original goal of 9 and a half stone. However, I sadly still look in the mirror and see myself as 'fat' with a full tummy, and this spurs me on to lose more weight.

I embarrassingly admit that the goal weight in my stats is 116 because that would give me a BMI of 20.8, the supposed scientific 'perfect' BMI - however I'm not thinking of resetting that goal to 8 stone. I'm at a loss of what to do - I'm 19 and I want to be slim for the first time in my life. I've finally got off my butt and done something about my weight and I just don't want to fall short or settle for second best. Any advice would be much appreciated xx

Firstly, that's a brilliant loss! WELL DONE! Maybe work on reducing your body fat without losing weight? Building muscle will make you look leaner :)

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping. I'm doing alot of strength at the gym so here's hoping it pays off. I'm think of getting to 116 first, mega toning up from there while maintaining that weight and if I'm not happy then I can lose more weight if need be.

Pfft, not as good are yours! I've read a lot of your posts and your attitude to your diet is to be commended. I honestly mean that! There's a few on this site who, and I don't mean this in a nasty way, are throwing themselves to the sharks by trying to loose a lot of weight unhealthily, but you seem to have your head screwed on the right way with all of this :D

Awww thank you!!! That's so sweet XD I've done so many diets where I've lost weight quickly and it just doesn't work, and I've been witness as to how it can screw up your body, so I'm trying my hardest to be sensible - the tortoise won the race in the fable!

I'm sure you'll see a difference with your strength training at the gym. I also see people on MFP getting great results with Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. I have the Shred but have been too busy with the gym to actually DO it (as I still have a fair amount to lose and it doesn't burn that many calories I'd rather go to the gym or go swimming and burn triple in cardio and then do my strength there and be too pooped to do Jillian!). Kettlebells are also brilliant, I've only done a couple of classes and I can already see results in my arms especially.

Yeah I've heard of the 30 day shed, but like yourself I'm far too busy with my own programme at the gym at the moment and I don't think the gym staff would appreciate me being there until 1am getting my 30 shed exercises in :D

The past 3 days for me haven't been too good for me diet wise - I've had three birthday dinners (one each night) and although I've tried to make smart menu choices, they've been those restaurants were you just know that no meal is under 1000 calories (two were rich cuisine Italians with HUGE portions and the other was an indian) so I've probably been having around 2000-2500 calories worth each day AT LEAST. According to the scales, I've gained 4lb - although I HOPE that at least 1 of those pounds is water weight because at my current weight those 4lb are about a months hard, hard work and it's disheartening when I was only 3lb away from goal 4 days ago!
