I've been on and off CD now for a few months. I don't so much have a problem sticking to it, but as the title says, I fear Maintaining the weight loss. When i get close to target panick strikes and rips me to shreads. If only i can stop thinking it would be such a problem. I believe I can teach myself to eat correctly but does this mean i'll never be able to binge????? Right now i'm on week4 and already preparing for target so i eat ****! Helllllp pleasssssser:(

I think you need to get all thoughts of ever 'Binging' again out of your head. Of course it's O.K to have days where you over indulge and eat too much, but only to the extent that 'normal' :D people do. Wanting to still be able to binge is the wrong mindset.

Best thing you can do is buy and read as many books as you can. CBT & NLP basically. The only people I know who have ever maintained are those that went down this route and completely reprogrammed their brains with regards to food.

This is what I plan to do - good luck x

Bh H thank you for the reply. Now this sounds like a plan, only problem is i have tried so hard to stop thinking binge etc. Books, ok honestly i'm thinking books can't cure my greed :( but its worth a try? I do appreciate this advice and will certainly give it a go, just hope it work...Can u recommend any good reads?

I know what you mean about not being convinced about books helping you, but the fact is something has to change permanently. Your will power will never keep you gaining back the weight. Willpower has a very short shelf life, your subconscious will always revert to type and you will be back to binging. You have to accept that if you are going to maintain your loss that you have to make a permanent change and you will need help with this. Your options are A.) Books - which is a good start (I recommend The Beck Diet solution) B.) Going to a group. c.) Trying to get your GP to refer you to a shrink that specializes in weight related issues. D.) Hypnosis.

Fyi I have tried all of the above and I am still fighting, but never giving up is the key.

Number 1 thing for you (in my opinion) is you have to change your mindset and actually not want to binge any more. I know that's easier said than done though.

Wow!!! Thank you so much. I already feel better and posotive about it. Hypnosis hmmm, sounds interesting. I'm going to look up those books now.. should really start reading now so i can stop these thoughts from entering the brain. I think you have done amazingly well to even try all these that is determination hon. Well done and once again thank you, you might just have saved my life ;)

Hi hun - completely get where you're coming from. :hug99:

Okay, more book recommendations - Big H has already suggested the Beck Diet Solution. If you want to know whether Beck might suit you before you buy, take a look at Judith Beck's website here. In particular, take a look at the Dieters Blog part.

Another good one: Linda Spangle's 100 Days of Weight loss. There's a Kindle version of this and it's also available as an iPhone App.

And then there's Gillian Riley's 'Eating Less'.

Finally, I've found Marisa Peer's 'You can be thin' enormously helpful - but it's probably not something to read if you don't want to give up bread, pasta, milk, cheese and sugar. :D I read it and found I couldn't do Cambridge anymore cos I couldn't bring myself to drink another milkshake... Oops.
