Hi all i have only been to slimming world for nearly a week (got first wi tomorrow!)
I am still finding it rather confusing, I get the idea of free foods which is what i try to live on but not sure about the Option A and B thing !! if i have something from either do i need to count them as syns ? I find having to keep checking the back 0f the book for syns a pain.... I really want to get my head around this as i am determined to loose my 1.5stonne...I have my first weigh in tomorow night and i sneakely weighed myself this morning to see what or if I have lost, (this is the best time for me as i weigh lightest in mornings) I was gutted to find out it only looks like 1/2 llb  so by the time tomorrow night comes (when i weigh heavy) it may be nothng.... and I have been so good to, ..... thats enough moaning, will let you know what tomorrow brings and if I loose or not... anyone know if crab sticks are counted as a syn or not, as i love them and they are snackable... thanks everyone :D

Hi there

Are you doing Extra easy? if so you get 1 selection from the healthy extra A and 1 from the B -you don't syn them..you get your syns on top
If you do red or green days then you get 2Bs and you can have 1or 2 heAs and your syns on top.
Most crabsticks are free on red/extra easy...
If you pop further down you will find the SW section and you will get masses of help and support down there.
Don't worry yourself -you will soon get the hang of it, oohh and don't worry about your scales -they won't be callibarated like the SW ones..so will give different results ;)
Good luck for your weigh in!!

*oooohh the moderator moved you down to us * :D

Hi I'm also in my first week and my first WI tomorrow night. So very similar situation!! I also weighed myself this morning with no loss!! I know all scales are different but I'm just worried because it's my first week!! Iv tried really hard and been really good. Hope it's all worth it! Used some syns but not really had any treats(choc)! X

I know it can be a little confusing when you first start but don't lose heart. Just to say your HEs are really important. Make sure you have these each day for best losses. Plus don't be too mean with syns. 5-15 is recommended and I find my best weekly losses are when I've had 10 per day. Your body needs a treat (so it doesn't crave naughtiness & store any up the free food you're eating!)
Good luck for tomorrow!

hi , like the others have said it seems confusing at first , but then it will suddenly click and you wont even have to think about it :D the key is planning your meals for the week and shopping for them, I also do lots of batch cooking at the weekend and freee stuff like ratatoullie ( goes with anything ) , chilli , currys etc

Healthy extras are compulsory , and you dont have to count any syns for them , like the others say if you are doing EE you have 1 of each every day .

I am sure you will have done fine and it wont be long before you are doing it automatically :D
Good luck x

Thanks for your reply, went to garden centre this afternoon and heard some encouraging news :D a friend of mine who looked wonderful has been going to slimming world for 2yrs and she said that on her 1st week she only lost a pound as she had to get used to all the do's and don'ts but on her second week she lost 4 pounds so I am all hyped up again :D bring on the weigh in I WILL NOT BE DISCOURAGED :D

Don't get into the habit of weighing yourself at home - it can make you feel disappointed (as you have found). Just have the regular weigh in once a week at Group, they are the only scales which mean anything.

my DH put on 1/2lb in his first week! (well we did go away for the weekend - bad timing LOL). He still hasn't got the hang of the plan, I still have to keep telling him things!

:Dcheers everyone for your support, am so glad i joined you all now.... I am really enjoying following the recipes online and my family enjoy me cooking more than i normally do :D ... I have been using low fat creme fraiche in things for past and curries, but I am finding it difficult to add it without it curdling... I know I cannot heat it I just add it to the final dish... any tips on what to do, its still edible but looks a bit iffy ha ha ha

Someone else will probably correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm certain low fat creme fraiche is synful! Try using very l.f fromage frais or quark instead as they are free :)

Yes, low fat creme fraiche has syns.
With creme fraiche, fromage frais etc don't add it to the dish whilst it's still on the heat. To stop it curdling remove the pan from the heat and after a couple of minutes stir in the fromage frais/yogurt/creme fraiche whilst stirring.

I only used low creme freche as it was in the slimming world recipe, but is quark just the same, ?? I have used quark befor when I made a lovely strawberry roulade it was only 1/2 syn for the whole thing and it was massive, worth looking on the net for... slimming world roulade :D so excited for my weigh in tonight... trying to pick out my lightest clothes to wear ha ha ha

RF Creme Fraiche is 1.5 syns per level tbsp (WW version 0.5 syns)

Quark is syn free but thicker, less creamy and more acidic to taste.

Just one thing to remember about the roulade and other low syn versions of cakes and pudding. Although they are low in syns they are still calories and if you eat too many it may affect your losses.

Good luck at WI!

Well had my weigh in last night and was gutted only 1/2 llb off :( :( I worked so hard too with it being my first week, dont know what to do different..... but some people in my class that have been going a while said it happened to them and that the following week had a good result. Hope this is the case roll on next week, p.s. might help if the change in food habits hadn't stopped me going to the loo !!!! and i eat all that fruit as well, ........

Do u do a diary on here? Its good to do one as a way of getting advice from people on what you eat and can help point out where you could make any changes.
