30 Day Craving Challenge: 10th May-9th June

I generally don't eat much chocolate - usually one creme egg or one bar a week, if that. HOWEVER since easter, my inner chocoholic has been awoken and I've had chocolate every day - which is shocking for me, and in increasing amounts. It started with a bit of easter egg every day, and today I've had two chocolate bars (although I did spill my healthy nuts - but I'm not going to kid myself, it would have still been one bar at least!). I think I'd had about 4 creme eggs since January before Easter started, as my chocolate quota, so this is exceptionally out of character for me, and illustrates the additives in this stuff! I've also noticed my skin looking dull and I've been getting spots!!

THIS HAS TO STOP!

Whilst on calorie counting, nothing is *forbidden* and it's easy to use our calories unwisely - and whilst I am generally in favour of "everything in moderation", certain foods have additives which makes it difficult to eat them in moderation - SO I'm starting a 30 day challenge where all members give up something that's a bit unhealthy and our bodies could do without.
Post in the list below to join with what you're giving up! Similar to the weight loss challenge, copy and paste the list so the next member can easily post. The challenge will run from 10th May to 9th June.

If you're stuck for something to give up, here are some examples: chocolate, crisps, fried food, takeaways, alcohol, adding sugar to things (such as cereal or tea), sodas.

Brilliant! If anybody else wants to join us mid-way, feel free :)

So it's day one and I already want to reach for the maltesers!!! Going to keep drinking peppermint tea instead and wait for my graze box!

day one nearly done and no crisps to speak of! though ever where i turned in tesco earlier there seemed to be dorito's glaring at me ;)

I would love to put several things down, choc, alcohol, crisps, takeaway, but the idea is to stick to it and not sure I could do all! So I am going to go for crisps and pizza.

I'm not going to give up a kind of food but a kind of eating! No more snacking or eating between meals! I find it encourages me to eat breakfast properly if I do that. The last few days I've realised that I haven't snacked between meals and I've seen really good losses, the two have to be linked! I will allow myself an apple as a snack if I really want or need one, but that's it!

How are we all doing ladies? I have to admit I've been eaten a few elevenses raisin bakes this week instead of chocolate - which is an improvement, but still not wonderful as they aren't exactly *healthy* because they're quite loaded in sugar! So I've restocked on my dried fruit and nuts for a healthier pick me up!

I've not snacked all week, except for yesterday when I bought a packet of crisps whilst I was in town because it was 5pm and I was genuinely pretty hungry and wouldn't be eating for a couple of hours! Was all within my calories though. I've had really good losses each day this week, wondering how much my no snacking is a part of that. I don't know though as I'm not having less calories or anything.

I was looking at dried fruit and nuts for a healthy snack but it's all so calorific still!

i'm still on the wagon- amazingly!!! but i have got my long shifts today and tomorrow so temptation will be high! just need to take plenty of 'real' food with me it's a lot easier to resist if i'm not hungry xx

What's your job?

bar maid!!! i know the glamour is overwhelming!!! but i don't get lunch breaks so have to pretty much eat sandwiches............with everyone staring at me which of course i LOVE (sarcasm overload :D)

I'm doing exactly the same! I get a 20 minute break if I work anything over 6/7 hours. If I work a 9 hour break I still only get a 20 minute break! I actually hate this job at the moment, need to find a new one ASAP!

i feel your pain hun :) it's so annoying but it pays the bills so what can you do!! But as it's so convenient and i have no travel expense or stress i refuse to jump from one lame ass job to another so i'm just about to start a course to re train as a proof reader and take it from there!

Ooh sounds a good plan! I'm looking for a new job. I'm HOPEFULLY starting my teacher training in September, had my interview and find out soon. At first this was a perfect job, it was flexible, meant I had day times free to get into school and do stuff. But now, it's just got annoying! I'm getting hardly any hours anymore, like this week I have 5, next week I have 11, then the next I'm doing 8hrs, 8hrs, 9hrs, 7hrs in a row with a 20 min break each day! It just isn't the hours we talked about at interview really. If I get a place on the PGCE then I'm going to try and find another job with more hours. I won't be able to work next year so I need to try and save as much money as I can so I've got a bit extra to help next year. And to pay off my credit cards by then too!

oooh that all sounds exciting! what are you wanting to teach?
Well i guess i'm lucky in the fact that i get a consistent 40 hours a week so at least i don't have to stress about money - what it does to my social life is another matter, would be nice to actually see my husband now and again ;) that's what has inspired me to get off my arse and do something different, so we've got a better quality of life in the future!! unfortunately i'm very impatient and want result now, but i've had a word with my manager and bless him he's very understanding and is trying his best to find a solution :)

Primary is the plan!

I'm not sure if I could work full time in a bar anymore! Well, it depends. Maybe! I've got two interviews for other jobs next week, so fingers crossed! One's teaching related, though supply work, so more relevant to what I want to do though, even if it is secondary age instead of primary.

oh how cool! you're a brave lady taking on class rooms full of kids i wouldn't have the patience ;)
Good luck with your interviews i'm sure you'll smash it :D

Thanks!

I fell off the wagon a bit yesterday - one of my triggers is disruption to my plans, and I ended up on a wrong train, so whilst waiting for the right one at the other station, I hit the snack machine! Tomorrow is a new day :) I'm not too annoyed because the whole point of the challenge for me was to break a dependency, which has been well and truly broken - there is no more chocolate on my menu for a while ;) (apart from the chocolate coating some of the protein bars at the gym - and so far I've managed to avoid those too!)
