Awareness of, or experience of working within social care..HELP

I'm applying the an admin position for the a housing trust for the elderly.

The above is one of the questions on the application form. I've worked for the NHS, Blood Service, Sure Start & the Job Centre. Would the following answer be sufficient or do I need to elaborate?

I have many years experience working in an administrative capacity for the NHS, Sure Start, Blood Service and the Job Centre. Although I've not worked directly with the elderly I'm sure that the skills and experience that I've gained from the above will be easily transferable. I can communicate well with people from all different social backgrounds and ethnicities.

I'd elaborate on the transferable skills to show you're aware of what the role may require & that you have some experience of this. Bear in mind that you may be competing with people who have worked within social care & so their experience is obvious. Take no chances with application forms, you have to tell them why you'd be the best person for the job! Best of luck

Hey, not sure if this is a bit OTT but had a go for you...

I have many years experience working in an administrative capacity within health and social care positions such as; NHS, Sure Start, the Blood Service and Job Centre. Although I have not experienced working directly with Older People, I feel that the communicative skills and experience I have gained from the above positions will be easily transferable.

Furthermore, I acknowledge how it is essential for me to effectively use verbal and non-verbal communication skills in order to build relationships with Older People, demonstrating an understanding of how they feel and consequently being able to inform Older People of how the Housing Trust can assist them in a friendly but professional manner. I feel building such trusting relationships will ensure I do not abruptly dismiss the needs of Older People and enable them to feel comfortable in approaching the Housing Trust for assistance.

I have a real enthusiasm and flair for working with Older People and wish to transfer the interpersonal, communication, and motivational skills gained within my experience in health and social care services thus far, and welcome working for a place where I am sure I would be part of a committed team.
