Bio Oil and Other Magic Lotions & Potions

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie and have approximately 3.5/4 stone to lose to get to goal. I was wondering if any of you have used Bio Oil or any other creme's and lotions to combat the effect of saggy skin/stretch marks etc etc.

Currently my stomach has a nice apron like affect - very attractive  - it is however reasonably firm although that may not be the case after losing the desired amount of weight.

Any expert hints or tips gratefully appreciated included specific exercise classes.

Sorry - if this has already been posted.:)

I haven't used Bio Oil since about the 5th week (on week 32 now) and my dreadful stretch marks have sorted themselves out without using it. all the redness has faded and I'm just left with the flesh coloured crepey lines where they once were. The more I watch How to Look Good Naked, the more I am convinced that the cheapest tub of moisturiser you can buy (I like Superdrug vitamin E) does pretty much the same as anything you'd pay 10-15 times as much for.

I had a huge apron and lost 8 stone - now I just have a little tummy pooch. I'm 33.

I swear by Boots Santuary Kyphi and Mande Lular body lotions. They smell lovely and are a plasure to put on - I've got through about 2 tubs in total since I started.

Cerulean , did you work out when you was dieting to tighten up your tummy ?

I haven't done any abs work (I always skipped that section of Davina McCall's DVD) and I went to pilates once and was rubbish at it! - I just walked and cycled lots and did yoga (which asks you to soften your belly) - however whilst walking I do tighten my tummy for a few minutes at a time.

I have been advised to burn the fat using light CV work like walking and cycling whilst SSing and then build muscle tone once I have reintroduced protein to my diet.

Hi rubywoo and welcome! I have just started using biooil but after a great tip from a beautician am making it go much further. You only need to mix a few drops into your favorite moisturizer for pretty much the same effect so I think it can be worth using. Exercise wise pilates is good, Body pump has abs work as does Combat.

Thanks for the info i will take that onboard

I have existing stretch marks that have faded but left that tell-tale crepey thingie. I am rather busty so worried will end up with huge stretch marks on my previously ample and unblemished decollatage;)

I am currently using Bio Oil and some Dove Intensive firming gel. Not sure if it will help or its the placebo effect, however I am rubbing and massaging like a mad woman - the calories I must burn just rubbing it in.

I feel really tired and light-headed at time(I am starting my 3rd week of LL) so will be (hopefully incorporating exercise aswell as my 10,000 steps a day.

I have heard Yoga is really good for strength and toning. Also heard good things about Body Pump for toning up.

Personally I think it's the massaging that makes the difference. Bio Oil advises twice daily massage. The ingredients are basically just a carrier oil with some essence added. I have got some Bio Oil - so I'm not just putting it down. I am just saying that I think what makes it work is the massge and you probably could get similar results with any moisturiser as long as you take the time to work it in.

I just popped into superdrug this morning and they have a new Vitamin E firming body cream. It comes in a 200ml tube and is currently on special for £1.59.

Never tried it before but I thought, for the price, it was worth keeping in my gym bag!

Thanks Sandra,

That'll go on my list. :)

I really must enquire about the body pump classes at my local gym. Money is rather tight due to LL, so it's only a leisure Centre place but as much as it become a bit of twice ritual for me (lotions and potions wise) I still need to do some exercise other than the 10000 steps. Just worried bout passing out, because I am still getting dizzy spells and moments when its feels like I'm going to faint.
