Holiday on Cruise

Spring Challenge!
I am due to go away at the end of May (20th) to the Lake District with my husband. Much of this will involve eating out.

I am hoping to take a yogurt for each day with my oatbran for breakfast. Is there anything particular on menus I should be looking at eating?I am guessing chicken salads, Rump steak and things like that?

Would it be easier to take my own food and eat that?

Grilled meat with salads or veg cooked without fat are your best bets. Omelettes are another possibility, just as long as they're not cooked with things like cream, etc.

Definitely take your oatbran, and yoghurts are a very handy staple. You might want to take a few other bits and pieces, along with a coolbag for carting around perishables. Slices of homemade Dukan meatloaf or frittata are pretty portable, too.

The yogurts are definately going to be coming with me. I think maybe some boiled eggs, tin of tuna and some cooked chicken will be too. We are only going for three days. There will be two PP days and two PV days.

I really dont want to be going off plan this early into the start of the diet. The website estimates I will be at my stable weight (8 Stone 12) at the 4th July. This is what I am aiming for.

I think you'll be absolutely fine, as long as you can avoid temptation as much as poss.

Will you be staying in a self-catering place? Otherwise, it really helps to have even just a little fridge available. If you're in a B&B, they may well let you stock a little bit of stuff in their kitchen fridge if you ask nicely.

When eating out, and the menu seems unsuitable or partly suitable only, feel free to ask for alternatives in restaurants - ie 'grilled chicken breast, no added oil or marinade' for example. Or 'no potatoes - extra broccoli'. Be very clear what you do or don't want, and most places are happy to oblige as long as it's a fairly simple request ('salad no dressing' etc etc). You can always pretend there are medical reasons (also for 'no alcohol')

Good luck - 3 days should be manageable, esp if you have access to a small fridge.

I traipsed oatbran muffins around the country with me last week, to no ill effect! I have one of those little cool bags and I usually had chicken/yoghurts etc in the glove compartment when we were out and about (I did have to grab it once when I realised we'd put the heating, rather than the aircon on, mind!!).

3 days is definiely doable. Salmon + veg is another good one. If you see a "Harvester", also a good Dukan place for steak/salmon + unlimited salad. Stick to diet coke/water though.
