Sad realization!!!

Soo..all week ive been really good and have managed to stay positive, but ive only lost less than 1/2 pound all week.

According to the harris benedict calculation i should be eating 1400cals to maintain my current weight. And it is advised that no body eats less than 1200 cals per day....

On slim fast i have been having:

250 cal shake breaky
250cal shake lunch
3 snacks 300 cals
500cal dinner
total:1300cals

well to loose weight:

1 pound loss= minus 3500cals over the week
1/2 pound loss= -1750cals over the week
i can have min 1200 cals= so the max i can minus is 1400cals over the whole week...so i will not even loose half a pound in a week? Arggghhhh

Is anyone else in their healthy bmi range and doing slimfast?

it will take me 12 weeks to loose less than 6lbs if im lucky, that cant be right?

if anyone has any suggestions....please let me know, cause thinking of jumping ship!! lol

I don't really know what to say Nadia. You can't really argue with the maths, can you? They say it's better to lose it slow and steady, but 12 weeks to lose 6lbs is very very slow! I'm nowhere near a healthy BMI, but I know when I get closer, I'll be jumping ship too. I can't do Slim Fast forever, I only plan to stick to it for a maximum of three months, then I'll be going back to Xenical to help with the rest of the weight loss. Mine is going to be a very slow journey though, I've got 7st to lose, so I think it'll take me about a year. Maybe you could just try low fat, low calorie, and see if that'll work better for you? Good luck anyway! :)

hi Emma,

Hows your Essay going...all done?

To be honest with you i don't even know what ship to jump to..lol because the basic principle of calorie deficiency= weight loss apply's to all the diets out there....to make things worse, i just calculated that i would have to cycle 7 days a week for 2 hours each session to loose a pound...haha thats crazy...and highly unlikely i will be able to achieve that. Im so unfit i only managed one ride last week!

By the looks of things its going to take me a year to loose my weight as well....so we're init together!! Its just ganna be hard to keep motivated if the loses are as low as 1/2 every 2 weeks.

ohh whats Xenical??

My essay is coming along slowly! They've changed the deadline from Tuesday to Friday, so I've got a little bit longer to get it done, so I can relax a bit :)

You're right, the principles are all the same, you're just going to have to be patient and stick with it. 1/2lb a week is still a loss, your weight is still going in the right direction, it's just going to take quite a long time. It'll be worth it in the end though!

Xenical is a tablet that stops your body consuming 1/3 of all the fat you eat in your food. If you eat too much fat, you get really bad side effects. I don't want to be too graphic, but basically you get this orange oil coming out during bowel movements! It's pretty disgusting, but it helps to keep you on track. You can buy Alli over the counter, which is half the strength of Xenical, but Xenical is prescription only, and you need to have a BMI over 30 to be prescribed it.

I used to take it before switching to Slim Fast, but I didn't stick to it 100% and kept giving up. I think this is the first time I've stuck to a diet for 2 whole weeks, and I'm actually happy to keep going with it! It's so strange, but I'm enjoying it :)

hi Emma,

that pill sounds bit iky...lol im sure you are going to do this without out....3lbs this week!! well done! proud of you :)

I know what you mean about feeling good on this diet, it just seems like im not doing a fad diet and i am finding this forum is keeping me well motivated...adding my weight loss to my signature is really rewarding.

oh even after all those calculations i did, i managed to loose 1.5lbs this week, so im defo sticking to the plan and just see what happens, its working so far, so cant really knock it yet!

That's brilliant! Well done! :D This forum is the only thing keeping me going to be honest! I'm really enjoying the diet, but I know for a fact I could never stick with it if I didn't have all the lovely people on here supporting and encouraging me :) And I love updating my signature too! I'd be so ashamed to report a weight gain, so that keeps me going to make sure I can keep adding the losses on each week :D
