what did you eat like before starting cd? what got you to the point enough was enough?

before cd I was forever on and off diets did well with sw but always got bored after 6 months. just before cd I was eating terriable no veg very little fruit, lots of junk food takeaways 2-3 times a week, chocolate daliy, never drank water only coffee and coke.
what made me start was I was having pains docs filled me with tabs that wasn't working. so I went to see a reflexologist and she shocked me really she told me everything was messed up. so I started increasing my water and the pains started to ease and I had so much more energy then a friend started this and I like the sound of doing it quick so I wouldn't get bored. but i've later realised it also gets rid of addictions to sugar and helps work on habits.

I was much the same - Left to my own devices I'd have two breakfasts and two lunches worth of food. I managed about 2 months of full on organic veganism last year which made me feel great and meant that takeaways and fast food were impossible, but boy was it expensive. I'm also a big drinker - beer is massively fattening and trust me to like bitter and stout enough to happily consume 1000 calories worth a day!

Oddly enough I'm not a huge fan of chocolate, the only time I ever crave it is when I tell myself I can't have it. I remember when I came off SS last year (I only managed a few weeks) there was one night where I did a 2 for 1 pizza deal and ate the lot. :( I have no idea how, but I ate every slice of 2 12 inch pizzas!

i ate too bigger portions. mountains of rice, seriously a massive plate and stcked high with masses of chicken sauce and 2 boiled eggs was a regular evening meal.

i was also a snacker, left to my own devices and i would just eat biscuits, cake and chocolate continuously.
being in hospital with my wee girl wasnt ideal either. the staff on the ward would keep bringing me pint after pint of milk and when people came to visit they never brought fruit, just mountains of junk food which i kept in a unit on wheels i had bought specially to try and tidy the stuff away a bit, lol then of course i lived on canteen lasagne and chips or domino's pizza who were willing to deliver it to the hospital, lol

On the run up to starting I was terrible, I was living off takeaways because I couldn't be bothered to shop unless it was for chocolate and doritos (would do a big bag to myself as a snack). I did a 2 for 1 pizza deal, indian take aways ensuring I had loads of poppadoms and naan (the worst 2 to have 500kcals in a naan alone). The chippy was my best friend for lunch large chips and 2 rissoles or cheese pastie plus 2 buttered rolls and a custard slice from the bakery next door (what was I thinking)! I was totally addicted to carbs and the feeling it gave me. I would eat a large bar of chocolate or a 4 x pack of small bars and would eat them so quick had no time to savour the flavour. My portion sizes were enough for 2-3 people. Reflecting back my relationship with food was so unhealthy it was an emotional crutch and I would comfort eat to feel better. Now food is out of the equation its like going cold turkey. I am learning to stave off my cravings and knowing my body can survive on so little why was I stuffing so much in. It was all to do with control, it is the only thing I have power over. I hope I have broken this cycle but feel I will always have to watch my weight. Jayne x

Portion control...

That was my big problem to begin with, and i liked all kinds of food, especially eating out, i loved eating out.

Then...

I met my other half who has a naturally high metabolism and loves to exercise, i started to match her in what she was eating and the weight just piled on.

Now...

I'm getting there! changing my ways and learning to control my portions and thin about what i eat before i eat it!

i probably ate enough for 2 men, left over take aways for breakfast, maybe 2 takeaways a day some days, choc, cake (omg im a cake addict) there is no surprise i was 21st lol. started cd and then moved onto exante as i couldn't afford it anymore.

I have to say that I am also a cake addict - I dont care much for chocolate - unless its in the form of a cake, not a big crisp eater either but boy do I love cake!!! - My meals used to be healthy lots of veg and salad but my problem was quantity would also have my plate piled high - thats why SS+ is good for me as I'm learning about portion control x

sounds like we all have the same problem portion size wether it be with our meals or in the amount we eat in snacks.
I really hope after cd I don't go back to it but it can't imagine life without chocolate and pizza etc i've just got to learn to limit to special occassions.
