Learning about ketosis

Night Hawk
When I started this diet, a month a go, I got into ketosis almost immediately, I believe in the second day. As far as I've seen for me ketostix worked flawless (maybe is a good batch) and showed constant ketosis over the first three weeks. Than I had a 3-day break over Easter, when obviously I was not in ketosis anymore.

On Tuesday this week I went back on TS and things are not so pink as they used to be. Hungry all the time, ketostix show constantly negative, no more stinky breath (which I had constantly over the first three weeks), and feel very weak, no energy.. To sum up, I know for sure I am not in ketosis.

The one good thing is that the weight is still going down, slowly but surely, probably based on low calories. The bad thing is that I have this nagging "give up" thoughts, things like.. well, if I am not in ketosis what's the point not having just a bit of something.. It doesn't matter anyway..

My conclusions so far on the subject..

- sometimes just taking a break, thinking that you can just jump back in ketosis as easily as you did first time may not work as planned;
- not being in ketosis is not only bad for hunger/energy, but for psychic/motivation also (you can't lose it if you didn't get it..)

I too took a break but kept failing as I found it very hard to get back on track. I've now had 3 weeks off Exante so am hoping this will help me to re-start clean & fresh. I miss the motivation I had when I first started but I guess I'll just have to work harder this time. Good luck to you xo

Woohoooo after 7 (SEVEN) days today I felt the signs of going back in ketosis, and they were confirmed by a stick.

How is it going for you hadl86? Back on track?

Funny enough the same is happening with me. First time it took around 3 days to get in to and I am now on day 7 and still nothing????? Its really strange!!

Thanks for this post it's helped keep me on the straight and narrow as the thought of seven days trying to get back in ketosis is way to hard!,,glad your back on track now. Lol.xx

I am on day 7 today and I only lost my feelings of hunger this lunchtime so I guess it just takes different people different times?
Maybe it has something to do with how you prepared before the diet? Like if you lowered your carbs and stuff before you started the first time then maybe it took less time than the restart?
I know that I ate carbs right up to starting the diet, in fact I was overeating cos it was my last chance! And I mean RIGHT up to it, I was drinking beer and eating crisps at midnight the night before haha. So I reckon thats why I took so long to get into it.
Just a thought x

This sounds exactly like what I'm struggling with right now!! Nearly in week 7 started so easily but just had 3 days totally shake free and am finding it really hard to get back into it!! Yesterday had 2 shakes all good intensions went out the window about 7pm was so hungry I caved in and had to eat something .,
Can't believe how hard it is to restart but today I'm going for it and hopefully make it through a ts day!!!
Arrrghhhh but I did enjoy my weekend off lol xx
Good luck to all restarters xxxxx

:8855: Oh my God, I thought I was the only one who did that, I read all these posts about how good people were being cutting down their carbs in preparation. I though to myself sod that I'm having my last load of treats :D

I started today, and last night I was in bed watching Game of Thrones eating crisps and sausages from the chippy o_O and after a very heavy weekend I think the abstinence from alcohol is going to do my body a whole lot of good aswell :p

I seem to take about 6 days before going back into ketosis :(, regardless of what I eat or drink before hand :(
