How can I make Atkins food more exciting?

So all I've been eating is cod, salmon, tuna, eggs and chicken. What kind of receipes are there for someone in induction? I'm too scared to eat anything else but I am getting bored..
Also, am I allowed burgers and sausaged? I'm sure I read somewhere they weren't allowed (particularly certain types of sausage?)
--and can I drink diet coke?
thanks in advance :)

Wow! I'm bored for you!

Do you have an iceland near you? They do a box of 8 or 10 100% beef burgers for a couple of quid or something.

Celeriac - make chips, roast potato's, wedges (cover them in salt, pepper, chili powder...whatever u fancy). Grilled asparagus, salad with feta cheese, coleslaw (I make mine with mayo, cabage, spring onion)... those are my usual veggie delights.

Meat wise, I'm all about easy things - chicken kebab scewers (iceland bbq range 0.5g carbs each or something), steak, stirfry, fry ups, egg foo yung, chicken stuffed with garlic n phili and wrapped in parma ham....

God, I can think of 101 things I could eat.

What thinks were your favourite before you started dieting? Maybe they can be modified or substituted for low carb delights :)

Oh, and if you're near asda, they do gluten free sausages in the fridge section - extra special ones i think. carb wise, without going to the fridge to check, im not sure, but we're talking 0.something per sausage I think. Jamie oliver sausages in the fridge section too - 0.9g or something.

And I drink diet coke, caffeine free coke and coke zero. Doesnt give me any problems but the citric acid can stall people. Just keep an eye on it. If you're drinking loads and not losing anything, or losing very little, cut back or give it up for a week and see what happens.

Having said that, coke zero doesnt have citric acid in it, so in my book, its a winner (for me, at least)

Good luck, and feel free to give me a shout if you need anything :)

you should definitely also play around with sauces and seasoning.

You can make jerk chicken, herb chicken and various cream sauces for example chicken with a creamy mushroom sauce. Also play around with your veggies and try seving them in different ways; cauliflower for example could be curried; turned into a bake with a little cream, cheese and mustard; mashed with cream and butter and used to top beef mince (shepherd pie sans potato). You do need to get creative but there are so many options out there....

With regard to burgers, I always make my own from a packet of lean mince, seasoning and sometimes a bit of egg to bind it all. That way I know there's nothing illegal added. Sometimes I make the mix into burger patties for meals, other times little meatballs that I can snack on.

Yes, as Leanne said, look at the recipe thread, all sorts of good stuff in there

oh please don't eat boring food, there is no need! atkins is the least boring 'diet' of all!

last night we haqd smothered chicken, tonight we are having venison cooked in red wine....and there is cheeseburger pie, terrific variety of stirfries, veg cooked in butter, creamy sauces, seafood curries, garlicky mushrooms and and and and!

I often find that the hardest part is not the mains, its finding an interesting replacement for the carb-laden accompaniments (pasta, rice and potatoes). We have just had spag bol for tea and I had the bol with salad... again. I discovered cauli rice this week and that has helped a lot, but have run out of cauli now! I also like leeks and courgettes sauteed in butter.

Will be investigating celeriac chips this week - thanks ClaireCat for the tip, celeriac is something I've never tried before. :)

Hit the spices and butter hard!

You can make some decent sauces if you experiment a little which makes it a lot better.

Also make low carb replacements of high carb food. You can have a Joseph's low carb pitta (low carb megastore), 25g of Sainsburys pizza topping and unlimited cheese on top for 6g carbs!

A lot of people miss sandwiches. I mix some mayonnaise with black pepper and spread it on a Joseph's pitta. Then add chicken breast and bacon and tell me Atkins isn't a great diet!

Damn now i'm craving that and LCM is out of pittas :( Should be back in stock soon though.

If you can be bothered shredding courgettes, they apparently make a good spaghetti noodle replacement, although I've never tried it (not much of a pasta fan).

The celeriac is easy as pie. Pain to chop, but easy to make. I just cut the outside off and cut it into whatever sizes/shapes I can be bothered with and put them on a baking tray, cover lightly in olive oil, add whatever herbs/spices I feel like, and bung in the oven at 200 for about 50mins to an hour - turn them half way through cooking.

Delicious! :D

Thankyou so much, this is so helpful! I don't want to try another diet because Atkins seems to be the only one where I lose weight...or the only one I tend to stick to because I am most full.
The only things I was wondering, was what do you eat when you're in a rush and need something quick on the go?
And how do you satisfy sweet cravings? before starting I was a bit of a choc addict so I am missing it! Can I eat anything to satisfy me like this during induction?
Once again, thanks for all the posts!!

I adore curry and pasta. So I buy dreamfields low carb pasta either from lowcarbmegastore or avidlite. It is not cheap and one must not overcook it but it is absolutely delicious and eaten in small quantities can really make low carbing easier.

You can also buy tiny pasta shapes that double quite amazingly as 'rice' ha ha. So useful!
