How is it that I have 2st 12lbs to lose?!

Honeyoc

Is a crunchy mama!
Sigh... I can't believe I'm back here again! Well, almost. When I first joined SW in Dec 2009, I was over a stone heavier than I am now. I was about 10lbs away from target (9st 7lbs) when I fell off track for a few weeks and put on 13lbs then I got pregnant! So I was 10at 13lbs when I got pregnant and I was actually okay with that. Hardly put on anything until the last trimester. By the time I was in hospital having my baby, I was 2st heavier (12st 13lbs). By the time I left the hospital 2 days later I was 1st 7lbs lighter and I lost another 10lbs two weeks later. So two weeks after I had my baby I was under my pre pregnancy weight, so I was 10st 10lbs. Hope you can keep up lol.

Now from 2 weeks after my baby to date (roughly 2 months) I've put on a horrific one and a half stone! How the hell does that happen when I'm exclusively breastfeeding?! I'll tell you how, by cooking with butter, double cream, full fat everything and a LOT of it.. Sigh... I can't believe how naive I was thinking I could eat all I was eating and not put on weight (even LOSE wieght because I'm breastfeeding!). Now I've formed habits that I'm finding difficult to break, like desserts every night!

So now with the weight I gained post pregnancy added to the weight I gained before getting pregnant and the initial weight I had to lose in the first place, I've got 40lbs to lose in total!! OMG!! Wish me luck!

P.S. I'd appreciate any tips you can offer on how to curb sugar cravings!

You're in the right place and know what you're doing wrong so there's the first few hurdles jumped!

I've recently given up diet coke and have found that has stopped me craving sweet things particularly in the evening. Do you drink pop? x

Sweet craving cure for me is by saving a HEB and having weetabix topped with chopped fruit, topped with mullerlight & if i'm particularly craving something, with a little grated chocolate on top! By the time i've munched my way through that of an evening I'm stuffed & no longer craving!

Good luck hun. xx

Whilst your breastfeeding you need to ensure your always have a drink to hand! Breastfeeding means you burn an extra 500cals a day - which in respect to food isn't overly generous!! But your body will crave sugars to replenish your milk flow! (I'm soon to be a newly qualified midwife!)

My advice would be drink something whilst feeding prehaps a no added sugar squash or something just so your body stops the cravings?! Xx

The only advice I can give is 'don't look backwards'. There is absolutely NOTHING to be gained from beating yourself up about what you weighed once- whether that was 14 years or 14 days ago, it is now irrelevant, because you are where you are.

Look forwards mate- you are far too pretty for us to just see the back of your head!

Good to see you again though- I was thinking of you just last night! I was in ASDA buying 3 huge tubs of Total 2% greek yogurt (as it is like gold dust so I always stock up when I see it) and remembering how you liked it too, and like me thought it was well worth the syns

Aww thanks so much guys :D

Mizkirsty that's a great idea having a sweet drink when breastfeeding. I love sugar free grapefruit squash so I'll have a glass of that each feed and see if that makes a difference.

Cocktailprincess, you're amazing. Thank you SO much, what you said really resonated with me. Looking back is all I've been doing. I've been feeling so disappointed having gone through pregnancy so disciplined and on track, putting on the required amount of weight to have a healthy pregnancy and then losing it all literally weeks after. I was very proud of myself, a little smug even. And now look at me :(
But what you said makes so much sense, really. No point dwelling on the past, I think in a lot of ways, it's what's held me back. So thank you, it means a lot to me especially coming from you. Thank you!
Enjoy the Greek yogurt! I placed an online order for what I thought was 4 x 150g tubs and ended up with 4 x 500g tubs! Oops, looks like I'll be thinking up yogurt recipes! How have you been? Are you in the SW magazine yet?!

honey honey honey, you beautiful mumma you!

You did SO well during pregnancy- so be damn proud of yourself that you did so well and dont have an extra 30 lbs to loose on top of what you would like to loose now!

I too am forming bad habits. Not so much cooking wise, cos i actually prefer cooking sw way.. but eating snacks that are not good at all.. im eating so much crap, on top of all the goodness. (i call it a balanced diet lol) im ashamed that iv told my C i wont be back for 6 weeks so i can take some me time, but this is of course having its side affects, i *know* i dont have to weigh, so its easier to ignore.. but at the same time im really enjoying my pregnancy now without having to face numbers that quite simply depress me. all i keep thinking is '' all that hard work.. ''

we can so do this together!! - i too would love any hints and tips anyone has for honey. me thinks we'l need double the man power to get us back on track ;)

to being yummy mummys honey? .. we can do this. Ly xxxx

i was feeling really shitty cause ive eaten sooooooo much over easter n school hols that i bet ive put half a stone back on easy. . . n then i read this n its really got me motivated again . . . i know it wasnt directed at me but its helped me and im going to print it off n put it on the kids fridge(thats where all the chocolate is)to keep me on track . . so thanx cocktailprincess :)

Honey- so glad it helped. We are all guilty of this, so I know from personal experience how damaging it can feel. It is only ever destructive to make comparisons, even if it is comparing us now withourselves in the past. You have done amazingly well and that 40lb will soon be 30, and knowing you there will be no compromise on food- you will still eat an amazing varied, colourful, exciting array of food....just without the butter and cream lol!

I am well ta- magazine never got back to me but I was on the website. I am maintaining happily- not superthin but superactive and happy (just signed up for the ballot for 2012 London Marathon! eek!)
Just need to get hubby cancer free now and life will be ace.

Really, really good to see you again (in a selfish way) and can't wait to hear about your progress and recipes

xxxx

ps Mejuile (lol)- glad to hear it helped. Get your head up, get your fists in fighting position and lets DO THIS- yey!!!!!
