1 week of TS done and only lost 2 Lbs:( Am I not in ketosis yet???

pixar

has to be done this year
I completed my 1st week of Exante total solutions and I stuck to it 100%, no cheating at all. I didn't drink tea or coke zero or flavoured water because I was scared it may ruin the diet so I stuck with 3-4 liters of plain water a day and did exercise 3 days a week and only lost 2 pounds which I'm really upset with. I am coming toward the end of my totm and wondering if this has any relevance with it? I honestly was expecting more on the 1st week, maybe like 5 pounds off. Could it be possible that my body hasn't gone into ketosis? today is my 8th day, I yet haven't experienced the so called dog breath either and my sister said she couldn't smell anything from me. I just feel so sad that i really stuck to it 100% and only lost 2 pounds:(

Its not ketosis that causes the weight loss. Some people dont get into ketosis on VLCDs and still lose weight. Im in and out it and my losses are consistent. What causes the losses is the calorie deficit.

It could very well be totm thats caused it. Hang in there I bet you get a good result next week

It's quite common for women to retain weight during their TOTM. So I'm pretty confident that it's due to that! Don't be disheartened. Wait until next week's weigh in and you'll most likely get a fantastic result to make up for this one! Keep going 100%, you've done so well! xx

Thanks ever so much for the quick replies:) I really hope I have a better loss next week. The only reason why I came onto exante was because of the success rate it had and after reading so many peoples signatures and seeing their losses i was like 'wow'....I did sw and ww in the past but wasn't too happy with the weight loss so I finally plucked the courage and decided to do exante. Although I only loss 2 pounds I'm still going strong and will not give up. I hope that at the end of my remaining 3 week I really am happy with the loss:)

starlight I understand that the 600 cal is the main reason to why we loss the weight because its way under the recommended '1200' cals a day, but i thought ketosis helped with the weight loss aswell because it starts to use the stored fat for energy??? Thats what I read so I'm unsure

Do you also happen to be taking any prescription medication?

no I'm not on any medication, LOL I didnt even use any form of pain killers when I had the odd head ache:) I'm just thinking could this 2 pound weight loss be due to fact that I had a good loss last week of 6 pounds with another diet and also that I'm coming toward to the end of my totm? These are the only reasons i can think of.

carly 82 you are spot on. I did loose weight through ww and then the last 2 weeks before doing exante i did a low cal low carb diet and did loss a fair amount of weight so Im thinking this is what caused it. I presume the people whom have big losses on their 1st week are the ones who previously hadn't had a big weight loss. I have seen lots of people to have lost 10 + pounds in their 1st week, I wasnt expecting that much obviously because i have lost 2 stones already but was hoping for about 4 pounds, 2 just seems too little, im just hoping for 4 next week:)

I think that's what it is, next week will be better without the dreaded TOTM ;)

thanks carly, we shall see:) As I didn't loose so much this week, I'm hoping next week will be 4 pounds off for me and also the dreaded totm would be out the way like u said LOL..I weighed in at 11.4 this morn and would love to take off that 4 pounds next week so I know i only have 1.7 stones to loose to get to 1st target which is to be 9.7 stones, and then if im not happy my next goal is 9 stones, thats my ultimate gaol actually:) I can see yr target goal is 9.7 stones, that would a good weight for 5ft 3, as im only 5ft 4 too and was 9.7 3 years ago and was a good weight, good luck with yr weight journey too x

no matter what is the reason you has not lost as much as you expected, stick on the diet 100% for a week is just phenominal!!!;) should be so proud, just keep going, i am sure you will see bigger lose next week. i just started on monday, so far so good. Lets support each other , we can do it:D

Because you'd already been dieting, and particularly the weeks before you'd been on low carb, you'd already burned through your glycogen stores so you could not expect a big first week loss (as for others who haven't been dieting, it's the glycogen & water that mostly disappear in the first week). The other thing is that you're also getting very close to goal /healthy bmi, so I don't think you can expect such big losses either. Stick with it, and you will lose weight - but remember TS they suggest that you'd lose around 14lbs a month, so that's only just over 3lbs a week, and with a loss of 2 you've nearly achieved that anyway.

thanks guys for yr encouragement:) Ive said it many times and saying it again, if it wasn't for the support of minimins i dont think I could stay on this diet..Im hoping for a 4 lb loss next week so it can bring me down to 11 stones, but lets see:)

Cybill everything you have written I did take into consideration before i even started exante. I had lost 2 stones prior to this diet, also have been on a low carb/low fat diet for the last 2 weeks and am only less than 2 stones away from target and I know all this has an effect. I am hoping for a bigger loss next week because exante is really strict and I should loss 3 pounds a week. If I keep having 2 pound loss every week then I will be fairly disheartened because I could loss 2 pound through ww/sw or through eating healthy and exercising. I was doing slimming world green day 3 years ago and until I got to 10 stones I was loosing 2 pounds every week and just to think with sw I was piling on pasta, eating big big portions and even used to take sat and sunday off an treat myself:) But i am not going to give up hope yet, i have another 3 weeks on the plan and hoping overall i loose atleast 12 pounds:)

Just had a thought... it didn't hurt lol

Have you tried measuring yourself? Even if your weightloss is minimal, it doesn't necessarily mean you aren't losing inches x

keelyjrs I really don't want to get the tape measure out:) that scares the hell out of me, even getting on the scales once a week scares me let alone measuring myself:)) I know why u suggested the idea though and its good to measure yrself because even if it the losses are low, the tape measure can tell u the truth, but right now i honestly don't wanna see what i measure LOL, ile leave that for another few months! actually saying that 3 years ago I was size 8 and never once measured myself, maybe i will this time when i get to target:)

Sorry to hear it's not what you hoped for :( But obviously, everybody around here is right.. Some of the big losses during the first week (mine included) are mostly water and glycogen.. Sure, they look very nice and encouraging on a scale, but the minute you stray away from the diet are right back.. Your loss is real, is in the right direction, and will pile up with the next ones before you know it.. x
