Maintaining Weight

I am working my way up through the maintainance stages and i'm doing 1000cals at the mo. I'm getting abit nervous about maintaining my weight over the next few months, especially with winter on its way and all the stress i will be under with uni and commuting etc.

I know there are a lot of food options for all the CD maintainance steps and i can still use the recipies when i come off CD but i'm just worried about not knowing the nutritional info of some food and if they are low G.I or not. I am also worried about gaining over winter because you just cant help but be lazy at that time of year.

I did originally think that after CD i would join Rosemary Conley to help with my maintainance and get more recipies but i am not sure if i can afford that now because i am having a few financial problems.

So i have been doing my research looking up other diets (to get healthy meals ideas), researching healthy foods to help give me more energy and help my illness and i am just so confused because there i too much information out there.

I was wondering if anyone would like to share their experiences of maintaining and how you got through the winter months. I am hoping to be at the gym 3 times a week for fitness and stress reasons, so that should help me maintain.

Thank You xx :)

Hi

Firstly CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss:D:D:D

If you check out the maintenance forum, you'll find some good information threads and diaries that may help you out a little. Karion Dieting, Madame Dotty and CanIReallyDoThis diaries have been a great source of inspiration and help to me:) They're lovely ladies and I'm sure if you have any questions, they'll be more than happy to help:)

I've only been maintaining a short while, and still have a long while to go before I'll feel completely confident with maintaining. Therefore I don't feel I'm qualified to help too much, but you're welcome to pop into my diary thread anytime too:) New Me, New diary...Maintenance Begins, my diary is on the Cambridge diet forum.

Good luck with your maintenance, isn't it great to be slim:D:D

Hi,
Still losing now on 1500 plan, so dont worry. I spent the whole time when doing SS planning how i would maintain. I bought a few cookbooks, the anthony worrel thompson one is quite good and has a very much low GI slant. I am also subscribing to weight loss resources which gived very detailed and useful info on weight maintenance and an exercise diary. I am finding that an hour a day of pretty intensive gym work or swimming is helping curb my appetite as well as burn off the fat a bit faster.
The good old weightwatcher points cookbooks are quite good too! Good luck in maintaining your weight. I get a funny feeling that as difficult as this diet has been first time round, it would be virtually impossible to do it twice (for me anyway), so I have no intention of letting my weight go up again.
(Weight Loss Resources by the way)
minime xx

Thank you so much for your replies. I have been having a bad week and have been trying so hard to stick to CD stabilisation steps. I have looked over the maintainance diaries and they are great motivation and full of useful info. I will defo go through them in more detail when i get the time.

I have thought about getting cookbooks and i am thinkng i will proabbaly get a Low GI one. I am trying to decide if i should do Rosemary Conley or Slimming world when i finish CD. I think i will have to do more research on both of them. I will be joining the gym very soon ( as soon as silly university finances are sorted) aswell so that will help me maintain.

Thanks again for all your support xx :)

Hi

A friend of mine follows the Rosemary C GI diet, she's shown me the books and recipes etc. It is very similar to the recipes and foods allowed on the CD stabilisation steps. So that might be of help to you.

My friend goes to a class, it's £5 this includes weigh in and chat, plus an exercise class. Sounds like good value for money:)

Dont forget to check out weight loss resources, its a fab website and helps you to stick to the calories you want in a day, it also helps with what proportion of protein/carbs/fat etc you need in a day, you can do this, it is scary, Ive also had a bad couple of days, Im going on holiday, and Ive got stuck in holiday mode!!!!

Its a year since I started, and Ive been 8 months at around goal weight, so it can be done, yes Ive crept up at times, but Im keeping a close eye so I can pull back when needed x

I bought the Anthony Worral Thomson book for GI diet for £4 at The Works (RRP is £12.99). The recipes look quite good actually. And I also got a book on GI diet in poundland! (It pays to look for bargains)

Boots has a deal with PruHealth at the moment, you might find it interesting. It's half price premiums for the first year if you're a member of boots health club (you can join in store or online if not) and you get a free gym membership if you attend often, so a good motivation to go frequently. I'm seriously considering it.

And well done on the weight loss, and enjoy reaching your target. Soon you'll get used to making the right choices of food! ;)
