Formal introduction, lolll

Hi guys! I made the thread about Fibresure, but i really should've done a proper intro of me first :)

I;m Wisney (not real name obvs, but close to it!), I'm 22, I'm male, I'm 5ft 7 and I'm currently 14st :(

I've tried many diets over the years (as we all have), but have never succeeded. I was 12 1/2 stone when I was just 12, but after a camping trip in which I lost my appetite, I dropped a lot of weight and over the course of that year I had a full blown eating disorder and got down to just 9 st (which for a boy at my average height was underweight). After that, I gradually put the weight back on. Last year, after many years of being very depressed, I hit rock bottom and my weight went up to 14st, which was the highest it had ever been.

I feel like now is the time to really put my effort into losing weight. I want to be an actor, and I've been auditioning for drama schools with no success so far, and I know that if I want to audition in the real world, I can't be overweight. So I feel like I owe it to myself to give myself the best chance of a life and maybe a career by having a body I'm not ashamed of. I want to have a good summer for once (all of my summers are just lonely and depressing) and me and my friends are planning a weekend away in brighton at the beginning of july, and I really want to be able to take my shirt off on the beach.

I have my first month's pack of Exante shakes and I'm going to be doing total solution for 8 weeks, then working solution for 1 so that I can enjoy drinking and eating while in Brighton without shocking my body too much. I feel like I can succeed this time because it's total abstinence from food. Food is the only thing that makes me happy, so regulating it is very, very hard, so being without it completely will hopefully allow me to centre myself and my emotions.
I'm going to be doing some weight training 4 times a week as this is the only exercise I enjoy and it will also stop me from losing any muscle mass while on this type of diet. I'm hoping to lose 4 stone by my holiday, but I realise that is a bit over ambitious, so 3 stone would be great. I just want to get down to the right waist and shoulder ratio that I want. Whatever weight I achieve that at will the right weight for me.

I look forward to sharing my journey with you guys! I start the shakes on monday :D

Hello and good luck on you loosing the weight you want to. I have to say that alarm bells are ringing as I read your post as you have had an eating disorder even if it was many years ago! Please Please be carefull on this diet as Im unsure if you are really ment to be doing it, I dont want to put you off but it may just be worth having a chat with you Dr just so they can keep an eye on you.xxx

Hi Wisney, Good luck with your weightloss. You have a very good reason to succeed and you sound very motivated. Hope your first week goes well.

Oh nooo, believe me, it was almost ten years ago and I've never had a relapse. My main problem, as I think most of the people here, is bingeing when I'm unhappy. Like food has been the comfort, and I want to learn to not rely on food to stabilise my mood. That's why I like the abstinence from food on this diet, it can remove the temptation. Like if it's not in my cupboards, I can't eat it. Don't worry, I can really assure you I'm not in any danger of like using this diet as a full term lifestyle or anything like that. I have a few friends who could NOT use this diet under any circumstance because of that reason, and I'm the complete opposite now, I can promise you. Thanks for the concern though!

Emma273, I hope it goes well too, I feel very confident and sure about this diet, I feel like it may actually be the one that takes me to the finish line this time, so I'm feel very motivated!

Thats great hun I just wanted to make sure your ok. I have the same eating habits as you it sounds like and I have fornd this diet a huge help into how i see food after only a week!! Im sure it will do the same for you, Its almost a fuel now. anyway time to put the kids to bed so will have to go but will look in on you again.:)

It took my son two years to get into drama school! But he did! Its more difficult than Oxford or Cambridge. Your confidence and feelings of well being are crucial. When you feel good - you will be good.
Some private coaching for your auditions can help too - if you can find a friend or a teacher, or another actor? Do something different - everyone does the same thing, same piece - so stand out! And don't give up.
Good luck, its good to talk about something other than food and weight loss.

I don't think you realise how what you just said has helped me, you've literally lit a lightbulb in my head about the whole 'do something different' thing. It might not work, but I feel excited about the idea you've given me, thankyou! Lollll.

I think you're so right about the feelings of well being being so important. Like it's taken me a long while to feel confident enough again to feel like I can 'act', cos after high school and feeling so depressed and worthless, I felt like I couldn't do it, but these past few years I've sort of made myself think 'yes, you can do it, you've proved you can, so do it'. It is so freakin hard and it's about SO much more than being a good actor, and how you look is SUCH a big deal, so I want to feel like I look like someone they could possibly see doing work, so I feel like I need to lose this weight if I want to try and make my life better :)

Thanks for the words of encouragement, I appreciate it!

That's so good that it freed you from the compulsion, like that is what I'm hoping it will help me with, I want to see food in a different way, I don't want to have the 'Ohhh, I'm so upset! I need some chocolate' feeling, I want to be able to find comfort in a non food way. That's why I like the idea of abstinence from food, because I've told my mum to just buy stuff for her and she doesn't really eat sweets, so if I do have an emotional moment, there won't be the temptation to over eat on a meal because I'm on shakes, and there won't be junk to go to in the cupboards

Thanks for the response.

Good luck. My son's girlfriend is just about to graduate too. It took her three years to get a place. She also learnt to stand out from the crowd. Make them remember you. What do you do or say which makes you different? Special?

Go for it. Always follow your dreams. Have a look at the quote at the end of my signature. If you want it and believe you will get it Then it's yours.

Good luck!! :) I'm a similar age to you (20). How have your friends reacted? Mine are getting a bit *****y, one called me a "loser"!! But i'm not gonna go "out out" whilst on this, so hopefully I won't get anymore comments. x

I don't have a lot of friends atm as I lost contact with most of them when I quit uni, but the ones I do have are really supportive. They know I've been struggling with my weight since I've known them, so they're really rooting for me. My long weekend in Brighton in July is with my two best mates, so they are really supporting me cos they know how much I wanna be able to take my shirt off on the beach and wear nice clothes when we go out.
I'm not gonna be going 'out-out' until then, so i won't be drinking or anything for the next 2 months. I'm happy to be completely sober and a bit of a hermit for 2 months if it means that I can finally feel comfortable in my body.

I read on my diet and fitness guru's blog a while ago that 'Life is too short to not like your body', and I think that's very true. It effects you in so many ways, and I really want to be free of the shackles that I've made for myself.

What a great quote, feel much less like falling off the wagon now thanks :)

You going to start a diary?

No, I thought about it but then I didn't think anyone would want to read it. I might do it then, even if it's only a weekly update :)
