Suggestions for picnic tomorrow?

I am meeting some friends of mine tomorrow who are down for the weekend. They have just suggested going for a picnic when I originally thought we were eating out somewhere - they have said they will bring the food as I have got a new baby, which is fine by me as I don't have the time to prepare much myself or go shopping etc.

However, it is easier to be pickier and therefore stick to the plan when eating in a restaurant isn't it? I don't want to make a big fuss about being on a diet as it seems rude, as is just taking my own separate food just for me, however I don't want to cater for everyone!

Any suggestions for something I can grab from the supermarket on the way, that I can have in an emergency if nothing they take is suitable, and that potentially everyone can share? I am on the green plan as I am a vegetarian. I cannot use any more syns as I have had enough this week already, but I gave lots of healthy extras as I am breastfeeding a 3 month old...

I don't think it is at all rude to take your own food - it's what I would do! You could take a Sw quiche, some pasta/rice/cous cous salad, potato salad and cottage cheese, a baked potato, fruit kebabs etc. Check out the BBQ threads in the recipe section as they are equally applicable to picnics and try doing a search because I'm pretty sure there have been other threads on picnic food.

Thanks! In the end I took some hard boiled eggs, a bag of salad, some roasted butternut squash left over from tea last night, some low fat cheese slices, some cooked cold quorn fillets and sausages and some cooked savoury rice. It was just all i happened to already have in! It was good because it was stuff that i could still offer to share...

As it happens I could hardly eat anything anyway as the baby kept grizzling and wouldn't be put down so i had no hands free!

well done you on sticking to plan bet your proud of yourself x
