Just got all the stuff out

PinkMantha

time to get focused
Ready to make something to eat, boiled the kettle ready to make some pasta then said out loud "I don't want this" and put the stuff away but I did have a glass of full fat coke :( I'm really struggling at the mo and love sick has definatly set in, iv been sick the last 3 days :(

its not easy i know ...least you came on here and opened up ...what made you feel you wanted to eat

erm not sure really, just felt a bit hungry and empty and thought f**k it why not. havnt been following the plan properly what with being sick las 3 days but going to try and get back on 100% properly tomoro xxx

Think of your hoilday , also think of things that make you happy , food does but fora short time and after you will be unhappy by undoing the diet, you've come along way , i know its been hard , and when you see some people sail into the diet , makes you think i've got to get moving here .

Hey pink, fair play to you or not having the pasta hun.
I have to say though that as hard a time as you are having its your heart that is empty not your stomach.Of course its going to be hard this diet is hard enough without going through a breakup.
But the best thing you can do for yourself is to get back on the wagon,it can be tough after being off it for a few days.Even if you have to wait till your head is back on track because you know yourself that if your heads not in it its no use.
You will feel so much better in yourself when you do get back into it and realise that your worth so much more than your ex.
hope you feel better soon,

Elaine xx

when you think about going to eat something , whats your best way to stop yourself from doing it , and when you stop yourself how do you feel after ? and how often in a day is that happening ?

Many of us use food to pacify emotions including boredom, depression or loneliness. Others simply give into temptation or think of food as nothing more than a reliable source of pleasure. Does cheating lead you astray or protect you from doing something worse? Does cheating make you stronger or weaker?
I found this , and relating to myself , its boredom and pleasure, but pleasure for a few mins , as later its all turning to fat

LOL, I'm glad you wrote that, MsJMC.

Linda Spangle has this to say about the reasons why we eat (Day 52 of 100 Days of Weight Loss):

Without a doubt, food provides a reliable instant fix. In our culture of fast-food restaurants and microwave ovens, you can always get your food cravings fulfilled now. And you never have to wait for relief. From the first bite of a cookie or candy bar, you can immediately feel a nice sense of pleasure and satisfaction.

Food also provides a great source of entertainment. If there's nothing good on TV, you can always go raid the refrigerator until the programming changes. In fact, it's easy to slip into wandering around eating where you just let food solve your problems of boredom or restlessness.

Food also becomes a solution to times when you have nothing to do. On a rainy afternoon or a long weekend with no plans, you might eat to fill up the empty time. As one of my clients admitted, "Without food, I'd have no fun at all!"

Procrastinate and escape

Eating provides a great way to procrastinate. Whenever you face a task you don't want to do, food gives you a convenient escape. Suppose you need to study for a test, clean the house, or mow the lawn. You simply convince yourself that if you eat something first, you'll be able to tackle it more easily.

Sometimes you might use food to avoid even starting a task. If you have to complete a difficult project such as writing a report, heading for the refrigerator can help you pretend you don't have to do it. As a rule, the larger or more daunting the project, the more times you will eat to avoid it.

Eating to avoid life

Do you ever have times when you just don't feel like doing anything? Sometimes, we reach for food because we're tired of all the demands in our lives. When you feel exhausted or emotionally worn down, eating is the only thing that doesn't seem to take any effort!

The next time this happens, identify exactly what you don't feel like doing. Then remind yourself, "The task will still be there after I finish my food, so I might as well go ahead and do it." Over time, start looking for healthier ways to manage your avoidance, and then leave food out of the picture.

She's a wise woman, that Linda. :) And there's lots more where that came from. If you've got an iPhone, her app '100 Days of Weight Loss' is well worth getting.

Yes, me too! :busted:

That's why I love Linda Spangle. She's written a couple of books - '100 Days of Weight Loss' (which as I mentioned in my last post has been turned into an iPhone app) and 'Life is Hard, Food is Easy' - and I swear, she's got the reasons why we eat (well, why I eat, anyway :)) off to a T.

Fabulous stuff - not patronising or condescending, just truth presented in a way that really makes you think.

I highly recommend buying her books - either one of them actually because they're quite similar - '100 Days' is just a rehash of 'Life is Hard'. :)

i'll be off to amazon to have a look there , she seems to speak the truth . thanks for sharing x

LOL, not geeky at all - really good idea.

I don't think you can get Beck on Kindle (yet) unfortunately. I just hit that 'tell the publisher you want this on Kindle' thing. :)
