Back to Atkins - good old faithful

I did Atkins about five years ago and lost around a couple of stones I reckon. Back then I bought the book and followed it strictly and lost well, then discovered various allowed extras and cheats and gradually my carbs upped and my weightloss stopped and then I fell off the wagon. After that I started a few different diets, all with varying successes but am back here again now, 14 weeks after having a little girl to lose my pre-pregnancy gains.

Only been on the diet for 4 days so far and already lost around 7lb and feel slimmer around the tummy! My scales are a bit wonky, it depends on where they are as to what they say!

Well, I'm hoping that since I'm actually posting this time, I might stick to it?! Hope so.

I've found that when certain foods are banned altogether (e.g. cakes, biscuits, crisps) I can do without them rather than being allowed them occasionally as with other diets, hence my return here.

But I hope I can resist the muffins and cakes and even the jelly and cream - I think I use too much cream, I definitely drink too much coffee.

Looking forward to joining in with everyone else here :D

Hi Stella and welcome, I like the clean and green approach, no S/F or L/C, FRANKENFOODS I call them :)

Good luck and well done on your loss so far

Hiya, I did Atkins years ago 2 and lost about 10lbs in 2 weeks but had an off day and it gradually all came back, the diet has changed slightly since I done it then and the Atkins chocy bars are well yummy, anyways I am now on day 2, I weighed myself this morning and am the same as yesterday not that I expected miracles overnight but even a wee lb would have been nice, what day did you really notice the pounds starting to come off, I get really easy demotivated and like
to see results or I loose interest, x

Hi Chubbypants
Im a recovering "scaleaholic" and trying to weigh every 2 weeks only. I lost 7lbs last week and it didnt really start to move until day 3 so hang on in there.
Good Luck

Andi x

Chubbypants - try not having the Atkins choc bars in the first two weeks? They can slow some peoples loss right down.

Really,
I didn't know about avoiding them in the 1st 2 weeks, I bought loads as a total chocaholic and have kind of been munching about 3 a day, oops, the peanut 1s tasted just like snickers, I was amazed!!
Damm av already had 3 today already, all not buy anymore, my local chemist had em all reduced down in price so I kinda grabbed them all and have been thinking this is the best diet ever an that I could just much on these bars all day, oops x

Thanks for the welcome :)

I'm doing well, I think.... today's meals have been sardines with scrambled egg for brekkie and chicken in a philidelphia type sauce with a bit of cauli for lunch, and will probably have some slices of chicken, ham and salami with a boiled egg for tea/supper.

Chubbypants - I wouldn't buy any bars at all. If you really want chocolate badly, try a teeny bit of cocoa powder mixed with coconut oil and a drop of sweetener, or add to that some whipped double cream.

There's a recipe for a chocolate cake/pudding which is made from 2 tablesoons cocoa, 2 tablespoons sweetener, an egg and a pinch of baking powder and it's very rich and much better than an Atkins bar, though it's probably around 8g carbs if you eat the whole thing.

I noticed the biggest drop I think around the 3rd day.
