When to get new clothes?

May seem a strange thread, but how much weight have you lost before you have gone out and brought new clothes?

I have lost 2 stone, and although my clothes are quite loose, I spent the weekend taking in all my tousers and a £40 dress which I like to wear to work.

I am reluctant to buy new stuff as there is nothing wrong with the ones I have, although a little big.

I did relent and brought 2 new bras as the empty cup look is not a good one under Tshirts.

I bought some new stuff when my trousers were actually falling off. I still haven't bought any new tops, but they are all starting to look a little baggy now.
I wouldn't have the first clue how to alter my clothes myself though!!

I've bought a couple of new jeans in a size down, but they were £10 each, and a few Primark jumpers. Reluctant to spend a lot of money on things that hopefully won't fit in a few months time! I still wear my larger size jeans, but they are really quite baggy. Not at the falling down stage, but not that far off!

I pretty much lived in leggings once I got to the point where my old clothes stopped fitting me - cheap to replace up till target. Now I can shop in supermarkets its fairly easy to restock my wardrobe and I have pretty much done that from sale items. Still have the leggings for WI though!

The problem I have is that I'm a teacher, so should go dressed appropriatly.

I usually wear trousers / skirt and a blouse, I have found that as I reach up to turn the overhead projector on I tend to reveal too much knickers ( I do wear high ones) as my trousers move down.

I haven't brought any tops as they cover everything up but are starting to look very baggy (I seem to have lost a lot of boob).

Its just that I think I look messy and unprofessional.

I have bought lots of clothes from Sainsbury's while I have been losing. They have some pretty good clothes suitable for work and usually have a sale rail where I have picked up trousers for well under a tenner. :)

I have bought essentials from charity shops and e bay whilst I am still loosing , I refuse to pay full price for clothes that will be too big again in a few months !!

I donate to charity shops and buy from them too. And I buy and sell on eBay. Can't remember the last time I bought an item of clothing full price from a shop!

I am in the process of selling load of stuff on ebay and will be donating the first £200 I make to charity. i will also be buying stuff from charity shops & ebay. With work stuff (suits in particular) I can get away with a slightly smaller size jacket and not do it up at first, and then as I lose it will being to fit, so they last me a few months. I also buy the matching skirt and trousers so I get more wear out of the jackets, whci are always the expensive bit - plus skirts show my weight loss less than trousers asnd don't look too baggy even when they are too big

If all else fails - I will start putting stuff in the tumble dryer to shrink it:).

I wear long thin cardies when I'm teaching to avoid this kind of problem, or longer vest tops underneath my shirts. Doesn't look good to be constantly pulling trousers up does it!! Though I'm not sure how much longer I can cope with that if the weather stays like this!

Hi

I must confess that as soon as anything of mine got baggy I have given it away and replaced it -I know some people might think it frivolous but I decided that feeling like I didn't look like a bag of muck tied in the middle made me feel good -and so made staying on track much easier ;)
I tend to hit the online sales -la redoute being my fave ;)-I have had some cracking bargains on there, and at xmas I hit the sale stuff for summer -getting gorgeous size 16 maxi dresses that should have been £35-£45 each for as little as £8, I have picked up jeans for about £5 that should have been £47 etc so I now have a wardrobe full of clothes to see me through summer and a lot cheaper than Ebay too -them I will pass them on again...

ive been buying bits and pieces all along and now im getting into them it feels great. ive lost over 2 stone so im half way to target and ive just bought 3 gorgeous jersey dresses that i know will fit even when im at target :)

Thanks for all the tips.

Have been invited to an awards evening for my daughter, which will be attended by the mayor.

Looking around the charity shops found a nice dress (thsats not black) and 2 sizes smaller than the last one I brought.

So will now be searching the shops for more.

I buy all my works stuff from primark. They do smart skirts and pants for a fiver. They also have a good choice of blouses some as cheap as 3 quid!

I have bought new stuff from primark, Asda, ebay and the Next clearance outlet. I needed quite a lot of summer stuff so couldnt afford to be breaking the bank on individual items.

I have given my old stuff to my mum, who herself has lost almost 2 stone. She is really pleased as she has got a lot of new things (some hardly worn) for nothing.

I have bought things from charity shops and car boot sales to keep me going also a few basic items like t-shirts jamas leggings from Primark, I refuse to spend out on things I will hopefully only wear for a short time, plus when I was a size 24 I'd buy what fitted rather than what i "liked" as I actually never liked anything in a size 25 lol, so I'm looking forward to buying things I like

I have a wedding, and engagement party in July and want to biuy new dresses for both. Question is- what size so I buy?? I am in a size 18 (just at present) and based on my current 1.5lb a week loss in 12 weeks I should have lost about another 18 lbs. I can't wait till july to buy the dresses as they will have probably put all their autumn stuff in by then! Do I buy a size 16 now to slim into or am I being unrealistic? I have dropped from a fairly comfortable size 22 to a fit into most size 18s with a 20lb weight loss so far.

I'm having this problem at the mo I've hit a wedding to go to in August & want a dress but haven't got a clue what size to buy & scared to wait too ling in case I can't find something I like! As for day day items I'm not too bad cos I kept all my smaller clothes in the hopes of getting back into them one day :) only problem I have is tops cos last time I was slim was a size 12 on the bottom but a 16 on top due to having bug boobs! But had a breast reduction nearly 3 years ago so now as small on top as bottom, but don't have any smaller tops :( never mind will keep an eye out in Asda for some bargains & will then pass onto mother who is also doing SW
