London Marathon

Devon Dolce

1lb at a time!
Good luck to all of those running the Marathon today! My best friend is running it and this is the first year, and her last London run, that I won't physically be there to support her! Am tracking her online and know she'll do great, especially given that she was told she may never run again 6 months ago!

Am a very proud bestie today, so good luck to all those running, stay safe and have fun xxx

I love watching it and hearing all the inspirational stories. Its amazing what people can push themselves to do. Good luck to them all :)

who's up for giving it a go next year? :)

If I'm at ( or close to ) target by then, I may give it a try..
how long is it to WALK 26 miles? :)

I've been trying to get a place for 3 years now :( and they've removed the rule where if you try for 5 years and don't get a place you are guaranteed a place on your 6th attempt.

Me and a friend did the Moonwalk a couple of years ago and that's 26.2 miles (at night in our bras may I add!) and we did it in 7 hrs 40 mins - you have to walk, no jogging or running! It was fab xxx

There's a midnight walk scheduled round here for some time in may, but it's advertised as ladies only.. same as this run for life or whatever it is where they all run round a park dressed in pink..
it's discrimination is what it is.. whay are they excluding blokes from these charity walks?
it's not like we don't get breast cancer as well, or are not affected by it when someone we know or love gets it, so why miss out on the extra donations from it?

Lots of women have an idea that they don't like running where there are men around making the whole thing more competitive than they want it to be. Holding women's only events mean that they get more donations, because more unwilling runners will run/jog/walk it.

Men can take part in the walking midnight half/marathon Cancer Research have called Shine.

The race for life is organised by Cancer research rather than a breast cancer charity. They were advertising mens only events as well as run 10k which is a mixed event. As said above a lot of women view running as a male dominated sport so race for life was set up to try and encourage more women to take part.
