What is your motivation?

SpaceAngel

I ate my willpower!
For loosing weight.

My major kick up the rear is that I am matron of honour for my best friends wedding in August and the biggest size dress she could get me is a 22 from BHS and it's too small. I am a 22 now in other clothes but not this dress, so I need to get into it by August.

The second motivation is vanity. I am sick to death of not being able to walk into any shop and pick clothes off the rail to try on without checking right at the back to see if they go up to a 22/24, and then, "Is that top long enough to cover my belly?"

3rd reason? My children. I have 3 girls and a baby boy. I was very fortunate to lose a lot of weight during my pregnancy, and this really gave me a boost. I knew after I gave birth to my son that there was no way I was wasting this opportunity and putting it all back on again. So straight onto SW it was.

So far I have been on SW properly for 4 weeks and I have lost 13lbs. I am exclusively breast feeding my son, so I have to make sure that I eat a lot, and it just goes to show that I can eat loads on SW and still lose weight. Best diet ever in my opinion! :D

That's awesome! You're doing fantastically well and have some great motivations behind you.

My "mini" motivation is my cousins wedding which is 3 weeks on Saturday. Although it is just a small family-do, I want to look - and more importantly feel - fantastic :party0049:

My main motivation is that come 18th September 2011, two of my friends and I will be jetting off to Benidorm for the week. I really want to look good, whether it be lazing by the pool in my bikini, or strutting my stuff in a bar wearing a slinky little dress.

My target is to lose approx. 3 stone by then. So, I have 22 WI's left until then, and 33.5lb left to lose. That's an average of 1.5lb per week - sounds acheiveable :cross:

Will be interested to read what everyone else's motivations are. Good luck to you all, we can do this together! xx

Glastonbury!

Actually lots of reasons but trying to get fitter for the festivals, for health reasons, I had a back op and want to reduce the damage I am doing to it.

And want to fit in the lovely festival clothes as well.

I would love to come up with lots of noble reasons(though there are a few) but i'm going to stick with vanity. I'm not an overly vain person, but i like to look an feel good and currently I do not. I;ve reached me club 10 with slimming world and my next intermediate target is 2 stone 2lbs away. When i get to my target I will be happy :D

My first motivation is Reading festival i made a pact with myself that although i have bought a ticket i wont be going unless i have lost at least 3 stone! Achievable but cutting it fine!!

My short term motivation is I go to Las Vegas in six months time. I wanna look the best I can on this holiday. I'm also worried about the heat. We went to Egypt last year when I was heavier than I am now and my legs went all swollen in the heat. I know if I was lighter it wouldn't have been as much of a problem.

Long term, I'm not getting any younger, I'm wanting to have kids in the next few years and I want to be in the best shape I possibly can be for myself and my children. I don't want to be feeding my baby microwave meals in the womb - I want them to have a healthy start and a healthy diet in life. I don't want them to have the same issues with food and their weight that I have had my whole life.

1) I want to be healthier for my little man.

2) I want more babies at some point, and cannot be fat and pregnant again.

3) It was a joke me doing health promotion doing at work when I was "obese", still not much better now I am "overweight".

4) I was just over 10 stone when I got with my other half, and want to be a similar size when we eventually get married :)

5) I want my self confidence back!!!

My mum needed to lose weight for health reasons. She was nearly 17 stone and she came home in tears one day from the doctors because the doctor basically told her that he next stop was a coffin. My mum was upset because she said that she didn't ever see how she could be a healthy weight because she had so much to lose. So, I stood up and said 'Mum, you will get there because I will help you every step of the way" I now go to the gym 5 days a week, make her packed lunch and dinner do all the shopping so she's not tempted to buy bad treats :D needless to say I've lost 50lb and my mum's lost a lot of weight too!

My initial motivation was vanity - after appearing in some wedding pics in 2008 and - in my own thoughts - ruining them - I didn't want to do the same when my other brother got married in 2009 (didn't loose it all by then, but was a good way there).

Now my motivation is purely because I've now experienced life as a slim person - and i'm "never going back" there again. I like being able to buy clothes where ever I like. I like being able to take part in whatever activities I like. I like life now so much better then before (and i thought I was OK then?).

.

My motivation is also vanity..... I lost lots before and put some back on again.....Could kick myself that I let it go back on, but hey I did so I need to get focused and get back to it so that I can feel confident this summer.

It looks like you've done a marvellous job! Well done! :D

My wedding - I am engaged, but haven't set a date just yet.

:love047:

I need to be happy with my weight before I go an try on dresses!

Everyone is doing so well - keep up the good work!

I want to be fitter and healthier.. simples

Because I don't want blood clots or babies
I was told that if I did not loose weight I am at rist of blood clots from my pill and they would take it off me, and I am not ready for babies
Also I have a rather nice pair of size 12 flares in my wardrobe I would kill to fit in again

Ok i have a long list of motivations to lose weight - so here are a few.
1) I have a VIP ticket to see The Overtones in October & as i'll get to meet the guys i don't want to be fat, nervous & self-conscious!
2) To have a decent sex life without feeling fat & self conscious.
3) To sort out my unhealthy relationship with food once and for all!
4) To be able to run in the Mums race at school
5) To not be described as the one with the nice personality or pretty face.
6) So i can buy clothes i actually love instead of what just fits me - and so i can actually learn to not dread clothes shopping!
7) Am the wrong side of thirty & want to lower my risk of cancer, diabetes, heart problems etc

Thats all i can think of off the top of my head, but i'm sure there are loads more!!

* I have hypo-thyroidism so need to keep my weight in check as I do not want to have any further medical issues that come with being over weight such as diabetes and heart disease as they run in both sides of my family.

* I want to look sexy in a saree for when my cousin gets married.

I love hearing everybody's motivations for losing weight. It's such a personal thing but it's so good to talk about it with other like minded people.

My motivations are also mostly vanity, I want to be able to wear what I like without worrying what it will look like!
I want to be able to zip my work skirt up again :s
I do not want to bust out of my work shirt like the incredible unsightly hulk!!! And no way am I buying a new uniform..!
I want to feel comfortable in a bikini for the first time ever.

Everyone has their reasons... I used to be ashamed to say I wanted to lose weight 'just' for vanity, but self confidence is so important and to want to feel good about yourself is not a negative thing. Those that are losing weight for medical reasons etc, I salute you, it's a long hard road for us all and to have to do this must be a real pressure, but also a major motivation. So I just want to say a massive well done to everyone that has decided to make such a positive change, whatever your reasons are xxxx

I dont think there is any shame in wanting to lose weight for how you look. TBH I never realised how much my weight impacted on my health until i was thinner and noticed how much better i felt!!!
