Skinny girl in a fat body
Can anyone help me as I'm a bit confused with the colour of the Ketostix. The colour chart goes from beige to like a very dark cherry purpley colour. Beige is the colour it stays if you are not in ketosis.

The next stage is like a pale salmony pinky colour and it gets darker and darker. Reading another post it says that if's it cerise you are dehydrated, but surely still in ketosis.

I can't read the writing on the tub as it is absolutely tiny and impossible to see. My question is - what is the ideal colour / stage for ketosis.

Thanks x

Its best to be in about the middle of the color chart thing

Hi Mia, you want to be in the pink, that means you're in ketosis, the darker the pink the more dehydrated you are rather than the more in ketosis you are, if you get my drift. As long as it's pink, even the first pale pink, you are in ketosis. If it's a lot darker, especially near the end of the scale then you probably need to up your water intake.

There are 5 shades of pink on my instructions and I have always been advised to aim for the first 2 shades of pink (0.5-1.5 mmol/L) - a darker shade than the first two suggests that you are starting to become or are dehydrated.

Saying that if you always test first thing in the morning when you get up then you are likely to be in the higher end of the scale as you won't have drunk much overnight.

Hope that helps
