Hi there! Im new to the forums, have been browsing for a couple of days but through I would introduce myself to you lovely people :)

My name is Fiona, Im 28 years old and live in Scotland with my fiance and our two children.
I recently went to my doctors to tell him I thought I was depressed, he offered me Xenical, even though I stressed to him it wasnt my main problem he thought because of my height and weight it would help, so who was I to turn him down!

I have always been a bit overweight, as a child I struggled being the fat one at school, and have twice went to Scottish Slimmers where both times I managed to loose 3 stone, but its all crept back on now :( Ive been trying to loose weight on my own for the past few months but have only dropped a couple of pounds, so when the doctor suggested the xenical, and I read up on some of the side effects (!) I thought this might be the thing to keep me on the straight and narrow. I am now no terrified of pooing myself im eating less fat than I have in years!

I started the tablets on Monday, and so far so good, have stuck to very healthy eating, not done any exercise of worth, which is something I really need to get into, although feeling depressed hasnt helped in that area, im hoping the meds for that will perk me up soon. Ive been bad and weighed myself, and im showing down a couple of pounds already which has cheered me up :)

Anyway, if you made it through all that well done! I hope to get to know you all better :D

welcome and good luck Fiona!! This site is great for information and support as i am sure you have noticed when you have been browsing through!! I have been on it since about the 10th january and all is going great so far, i have had a few side effects but nothing too bad, its all about trial and error with some things!! Going back to the exercise, that will help with your depression even if its just walking, which is actually one of the best forms of exercise!! I also suffer with depression and panic attacks for the past 8 years nearly and am on medication, have tried coming off it but each time the panic attacks started again, so hoping with the weight loss i will get off them!!

I weigh myself all the time too, i am a serial weigher lol!! It helps to keep me going even if it does show i;m not doing as well as i feel i am!! Alot of us on here are also on my fitness pal which is a great place to record the food you eat, it helps you to work out your calorie allowance!!

Welcome Fiona! I started taking the pills around the same time as Rach but I fell off the wagon :( I should be where she is by now, but unfortunately I'm starting again from scratch. Welcome to the forum anyway, you'll find loads of help and support here, everyone is so welcoming and lovely :) Good luck with your weight loss, keep us updated! :)
