Restart # 87976453!!

Looking for Slimville!
Hello there.

I'm Erin and according to BMI I am obese!!

I'm attempting to lose weight for the umpteenth time. I've always been trying to 'slim down' - even when I was a perfectly normal and healthy weight as a teenager.

My first big diet was the Cambridge Diet. I went on it in October 2006 when I was 19 and weighed 154lbs. By Christmas that year I was 126lbs.

It didn't last. And now I've put on all the weight I had lost plus more...

I'm attempting the old fashioned route of healthy eating and exercise. I started on Wednesday last week and , despite a few hiccups, have been doing alright.

However, I have started a new antidepressant called mirtazapine (started Thursday night) which is quite notorious for inducing weight gain. I think it's because it acts as a bit of an appetite stimulant so I'm hoping if I don't cave in to the hunger pangs I'll be able to lose the weight while I'm on the meds.

I'm also getting blood test results back on Wednesday regarding my thyroid. My Thyroid Stimulating Hormone was at a higher level than normal which may be indicative of an underactive thyroid but I'm hoping this isn't the case.

I don't really have any long-term weight goal. I just want to take it bit by bit and see how I feel. I'm not so hung up about the numbers on the scales - although it would be nice to see them going down.:(

hi, i feel your pain!! hehe!! ive lost count the number of times I have started and restarted trying to lose weight. Im currently calorie counting with exercise, nothing fancy like you just plain and simple.

Honestly, I think the best thing is to not have goals, that way there is no disappointment when you dont meet them. Just take it a day at a time. If you have a bad day, do a little bit of extra exercise and draw a line under it. Maybe treat yourself to a new top thats a bit snug on you to give you the motivation to lose a few pounds to fit into it?

:)

Good luck:) Maybe you could talk to your doctor about the anti depressant? If you have concerns you may gain weight taking it, its going to be counter productive. I would ask if there is a more suitable alternative. Have a good day:)

Just wanted to wish you luck - you sound really focused and I believe that is the biggest key! I think many of us can relate to restarting diet plans but you can and will get there! :)

Thanks for your kind comments. :) I'm feeling really positive about it all this time the only thing worrying me is the meds. I've been healthy eating for almost a week and have gained 2lbs according to my scales. :( So definitely going to talk to the doc at my appointment tomorrow morning! I don't want anything to counteract my hard work...

Hope you are all having a good week so far!

Hello!
How are you doing??

I'm asking because I'm restarting tomorrow!
I really have to do it this time - I'm just off to set my wii fit board up! xx
