I Have To Stop Cd Diet.need Advice

Been on then diet for nearly 3 wks never felt better in yrs and have been losing weight, life in general feels real good at the moment. Went to GP today to get my form signed, only to find out NO. A few wks before startig the diet I had bloods taken for Coeliac disease wilth a positive result, gold standard practice is a biopsey. for a correct/accurate result you must be on x amount of gluten in your diet before your test, as the cd diet is gluten free, i can not take it untill I have had everything confirmed, I can not do both, as lot of food that contains gluten is carb loaded, its a wast of time. I have learnt alot over the past few wks about my self, i will continue not eating crap, and only eat the min gluten required, hope i continue to lose weight, I have a week supply left dont know how to start comeing off, my cdc is on holiday and dont know how to approach this, any help would be appreciated. this diet is fab and i will be back i am so upset about this. jackiex

Hi Jackie,

This is how to refeed using Lipotrim and which is the same rules for all vlcd's so as not to over fill your glycogen store.

Instead of LT Pack use your CD pack.

The plan for Refeeding applies to both men and women...

Follow exactly - do not add extras and, more importantly, do not miss out any steps. You may have milk in your tea and coffee, if required, and you can now have diet drinks again.

Avoid fruit juices (simple sugars) until the end of the week. No alcohol. Try to drink plenty of water. Most people do not drink adequate water and now you are in the habit, stick with it. At least 2 litres per day.

DAY1

Have 2 Lipotrim servings and one meal, as follows (men continue to have 2 servings, as before, while women take 1 less serving of Lipotrim)

At lunchtime or evening meal time you may have some skinless, boneless chicken breast or white fish fillet, or some skinless turkey (about 4-6ozs.) The fish or chicken may be steamed, microwaved, baked or cooked with a little water in a non-stick pan. Season with salt and pepper. Or you may have tuna fish in water or brine (drained). Vegetarians may use tofu or quorn.

You may also have either a moderate serving of salad (small breakfast bowl) from any of the following: lettuce, cucumber, cress and watercress, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, peppers, bean sprouts, celery dressed with a little lemon or lime juice or wine vinegar (try balsamic vinegar, it is quite special), or it you prefer, a moderate serving (2 heaped table spoons - no more) of some cooked green vegetables. You may not have bread, grains (rice) or pasta until Day 4. Fruit should wait until Day 4 at the earliest (later if you have carbohydrate problems). You can have milk in tea/coffee

Day 2 You will have only 1 LT serving and 2 meals, as described for Day 1.

Day 3 Same as Day 2, but you may also have - at one meal only - a 8 ounce potato, plain boiled, mashed or baked, but with no addiction of any fat. You may like to top with some skimmed milk, plain yoghurt or very low fat fromage frais and a sprinkle of herbs.

Day 4-7 each day have...

A LT serving for breakfast plus...

up to 3 servings of fruit (if you suffer from the insulin resistance problem, then eat these late in the day and do not snack on them during the day)

up to 2 slices of bread 0R 1 pita OR 1 bagel OR 1 roll (without fatty spread)

Any vegetable you want except avocado, 1 or 2 servings with your meals (2 tablespoons per serving)

any of the skimmed milk products.

fish fillet (any size) or 6 ounces of chicken or turkey, as described before, or one tin of tuna in water or brine, drained. Vegetarians may use tofu, textured vegetables protein (TVP) or quorn.

Lean meat with all visible fat trimmed off

Low fat recipes prepared with low fat sauces - eg lean mince with tomato bolognese sauce

medium baking potato or 6 small new potatoes or one serving of instant mashed potatoes (the kind with no added fat - read the label) Instead of potato, you have have 4 ozs. or rice or paste (cooked weight)

This schedule may be continued for several weeks - especially if you have lost a lot of weight - 5/6 stone or more - as you will need time to adjust to a different eating behaviour and quantities.

If you follow this you will avoid over filling your glycogen stores.

Hi Jackie,

It makes a lot of sense when you read over it.

I hope all goes well for you:)

Love Mini xxx

Your health is the most important thing and you need to sort out any medical problems you have darling ahead of committing and doing this diet...

I'm sure Mini's advice will be invaluable and we're see you back on CD before too long..

Good luck with everything...

Oh Yummie Mummie. Im sorry you cant continue with the diet at the mo as you were doing so well. But your long term health is far more important than your short term weight loss goals.

Perhaps you will be able to come back to CD once you have finished going through these tests you need to have.

I hope you can stick to the refeeding plan that mini gave you so you dont put on what you have already lost. Keep us updated with your progress and I hope the biopsy goes OK and isnt too uncomfortable for you.

Good Luck
xxx

I didn't think CD was gluten free.

Some of the bars aren't, but I guess the soups and shakes may be - you learn something new everyday !

The packs are known as sarbane oxley free which basically means they have a very very low gluten content which is effectively trace. For an average gluten intolerant person this is likely to be fine but a super sensitive person may still have problems.

Anything that once had gluten in it can never be truely free which is why it is known as SO free and not totally free.

Mike
