Hi guys,
Im going out for an indian this weekend and was just wondering if anyone could advise me on the best things to choose, the least calorific the better!
Thank you
Rachel x

Some ideas (all vegetarian):

- Daal soup with garlic naan;)
- Vegetable Biryani
- Chana Masala (it's chickpeas with sauce and veggies)

Thank you hun.Any other ideas guys?x

dry chicken pieces are pretty good and taste yummy.

It's just chicken marinated in yoghurt and spices and then grilled.

Usually if you buy this from an Indian restaurant or takeaway it comes with a salad and as it's protein it fills you up really well.

Thank you very much hun,you just get the massive menu and its lie "oh what do I pick"
xx

I find Indian the hardest meal to have out regarding the best choices.
Chicken tikka (dry not massala) is the better. I guess u could ask for a side salad too. The breads and starters are generally quite bad.
I like the chickpeas too.
Chinese tends to be much easier. X

Thank you Daizy!xx

Go for the tomato based sauces. They will have some oil in them but it has to be better than cream or coconut based things. Also, as Daizy said, dry dishes are the best and good for protein. Poppadoms are better than Naan bread (although stick to one) and go for plain boiled rice.

Enjoy your meal and don't worry too much. The main thing is you are trying to make good choices! xx

Thank you Morrigan some really good advice there xx

Completely agree with Morrigan there.

I would also say, if the meal is for an occasion, relaxing for an evening and not worrying too much might do you good. Find something tomato based that you really like, then don't panic. You'll feel satisfied, and ready to crack on with the diet the next day!

The sudden rare peak in calories means that your metabolism is likely to work overtime for a while, and actually help towards your diet, as long as it doesn't become a common occurance!

Tandoori is the best way to go or veggie.
Have Chapatti instead of Naan and if you are having poppadums ask them to dry cook it as some places cook them in a deep fat fryer.
If it looks too oily I double up the serviette and dab it off (ask for paper ones if they are material ones !!).
