Dead Fat (BBC)

Samprand

WILL do it!
I've just watched 'Dead Fat' on BBC iplayer (here's a link if you wanna watch it too BBC iPlayer - Dead Fat ) I thought the show was really eye-opening but understandably controversial - don't watch if you are faint hearted lol I can't really explain how I feel about what I've just seen except that I'm shocked, appalled and determined to not let myself carry on like this. Feel free to watch and share your thoughts, whatever they may be :)

lol, I just posted a thread on tv board. I always knew I was risking my health (I'm diabetic, high bp, asthma, excess stomach acid and have done nothing about it so far) but gees to see it like that, close up on an actual dead body, I'm telling you it really affected me and made me think about what I am doing to myself, much if not all preventable or reversible.

I know what you mean, you hear things like "ur organs work harder" etc and eventually those kind of warnings start to mean nothing but when you see how that womans organs were all squashed up cuz the fat moved them around, and the amount of fat in and around her heart and liver it was, quite frankly, disgusting. And what's it all for - an extra piece of cake? Prefering to sit on the sofa than go for a walk? I feel like I've been really stupid. Thankfully though, for us on here, we've got a chance to put it right thanks to the decision of the lady to use her body to educate us. I for one can honestly say if I'd of seen something like this years ago I wouldn't be the size I am now

thank you for that, it sounds really interesting, I think I'll catch up on iplayer tonight.

If you get the chance to watch it then you definitely should - it's quite eye opening. It's quite graphic so be warned lol Worth it though :)

I just typed out a reply then lost it, grr. lol. call me sick but I'd liked to have been there at the autopsy to see it for myself. it was good of that lady to donate her body so we could learn from it.

the docu is a repeat from about 6 months back, dad said at the time he'd seen it and i was annoyed i'd missed it but now ive had another chance. stephen is still battling the weight but i think he said at the end, he's fighting a losing battle which is sad although I deffo understand as i feel that way myself at times.

I would of liked to have been there too in a kind of morbid way. It was shocking to see but I found myself pausing the iplayer to get a better look at things lol

I'd never even heard of the show I can't remember how I came acros it but I'm glad I did. Sends shivers down me to think that the same - or worse! - is inside me right now

ikwym. I too would rewind back to see something again and get it into my brain. It was on on mon night as a fellow oa'er asked had i seen it.

Wow, thanks so much for bringing this to my attention... I don't want a yellow heart anymore! x

spread the word lindsay lol I've never seen anything like this show before and I think people should know about it to see what we're really doing to ourselves

Thanks for the link Samprand. I 've just watched it - it's 1.30 in the morning now!
It was really powerful. I usually listen to Steven Nolan on the radio.
I knew he has an issue with his weight. You could see in the documentary the profound effect the making of the film was having on him - realising the implications - in life and death.
For me the autopsy didn't seem gory or macabre, but a very visual
reminder not to choose the burger and fries or the extra cake and cream.
The images will stay with me for a long time.
I hope it has the desired effect on Mr. Nolan too.
He's liKe I used to feel.I hated my fat body. I felt ashamed and embarrassed and desperately wanted to be slim and healthy, but couldn't do anything about it for years. The motivation has to come from in your brain.
I hope that programme will help some people get started. I know
it will help me maintain. I don't want to go back there..........

Hey Slendablenda how've you been hon? Are you doing LL management now or have you finished altogether?:)

Just watched this on catch up. It is seriously shocking but in quite an informative way. I have been thinking of sticking with my current weight because of comments from people at work but having seen this I really want to make sure that I am an not carrying any excess fat. It is just not worth the risk!

I watched this last night, I lost count how many times I was shocked; the autopsy were you couldn't see her internal organs for the fat, the MRI, finding out Steven (the presenter) was only 37.

Such an eye opener, I thoroughly enjoyed.

OMG so I did hear well... I was watching it with my volume low and I thought I had misheard his age! 37 years of age, only 2 years older than me... he looks 55! (sorry Steven if you'll read this :()

Yes, real eye opener, I too was shocked... I posted it on my facebook profile, I think we all should so the word would spread about it!

The link isn't available anymore :( Do anyone know where else I can watch it?
I read all your posts and I'm very interested to watch it sounds like it was a powerful experience for everyone.
