Today is my fourth day being back on Slimming World (aka the Muller Light Diet) for the third time. This time last year I'd lost 3st with Slimming World, but since I quit the club and went on a bit of an eating rampage, I put 2st of that back on. Which is disheartening, but is in the past.

The last few days have been tricky, and various events have meant I've gone a little over my syns each day. I know it's easy to make excuses... but they really were all quite unusual occasions! Anyway, I still didn't go crazy and have been MUCH better than I was up until now, so as long as I'm good the next few days I still ought to get an OK first week loss I think.

As an old-school SWer I've never really been that taken with the Extra Easy days, though I'm trying one today. For lunch I'm baking a sweet potato and will be having it with stir fried mushroom and red pepper, with fat free fromage frais. For dinner am having roast pork with veggies.

I think I'm going to use my HEb to make a scan bran cake later.

Note to self: You can't add fromage frais to a hot pan - it separates pretty much instantly into water and cheesy lumps. Sigh...! Still the potato with cold fromage frais was nice.

Hello, I was so taken with your name, Paper Crane - a link with Japan?

Good luck on your new journey, perhaps we can help each other along the way? x

Hi Bess! Well, I plucked the name out of the air somewhat because I wanted something different to various other online aliases... But I've always had an interest Japanese culture, origami, food... I've not been to visit yet though. I'm planning to fold 1,000 paper cranes at some point...!

Good luck too! So from your sig, is this the first time you've tried SW and you're three weeks in? Despite me having been a little down on SW since rejoining, I do believe it's a good diet. And sustainable - I only put on 2st in the last year because I've binged atrociously...! What's good for me about SW is you really can eat a lot if you need to. There are some occasions when I just want to feel horribly full-up...

Yes, would love to help each other out. I'm already feeling so much more motivated having joined this forum yesterday! x

PS. My starting point was similar to yours - 16st3.5lb on 29/07/09. My lowest was 13st3lb on 21/04/10 but now I've ballooned back to a post-binge 15st6lb. This time I'm really determined to get down to my goal. My secret goal is 10st, for stupid reasons, but though it's in the BMI bracket for my height (I'm male btw) I think it's possibly a bit unrealistic. I've never BEEN that slim though, so I always figured I can play it by ear if I ever get down to 11st or so.... I mean WHEN I get down to 11st or so...!

Tried a forum recipe today - mushy pea curry..! I thought it'd be pretty rubbish, but actually it was really good! I do like mushy peas, I just thought that using them and beans as the bulk of a curry sounded a bit like it was for the sake of cramming in speed foods rather than actually tasting good. But I was wrong...! I adapted as follows:

1 onion
2 small sweet potatoes
2 garlic cloves
1 tin chopped tomatoes
3 tins mushy peas
1 tin baked beans
Frylight/olive oil
Veggie stock (if required)
Curry powder
Sweetener

Sauteed onion and sweet potato in a pot with crushed garlic. Frylight kept drying out as was such a big batch cook, so I just used a splash of olive oil (which will end up being a negligible less than 1/4 syn per portion I reckon). Added all liquid ingredients, allowing it to get relatively liquid as the potato cubes needed to soften. Added curry/sweetener to taste. Had with rice. A blob of FFFF would've been nice!

Hm, so this thread might occasionally feature gratuitous pictures of hot, scantily clad guys to keep me inspired...

A secret goal of 10st? (Hmm..not so secret now!) How tall are you? That seems quite light?
I manged one paper crane, looks a bit like a lame duck really......

I'm quite short - 5'7"ish. The BMI chart reckons that kind of height should weigh between 9st and 11st. But yeah, honestly, I've never been anywhere near that slim as an adult, so will just wait and see. I'd definitely love to know what it feels like to be under 11st...!

When do you weigh in? I'm on Wednesday. I really hope I've been good enough this week. I've not had the angelic first week I was hoping for, but it ought to be enough for a couple of pounds I hope :/

Can't believe how scrummy that free mushy pea curry is. Just had a big portion with rice for lunch, and feel pleasantly stuffed..! I think this is going to be the first recipe since restarting SW which I will end up overdosing on and won't be able to eat again after a few weeks...! I wouldn't present it at a dinner party as it does look pretty rank... might be a bit less offensive-looking with some extra veggies in.

Just had a whole pack of the Sainsbury's fresh spinach and ricotta pasta - only six syns! I made a cheese sauce by gently heating some blue cheese Deli Squares with a splash of milk, pepper, and paprika for two HEx A's (though the milk wasn't a whole HEx even). For six syns that was a very indulgent snack. I know it was late for dinner, but I got home late and won't be going to bed for another two hours at least....

Played a gig tonight and was very restrained. There was some free food for the performers, and beer and wine. I did have a cheese and tomato roll :/ and a small glass of wine. And a couple of chewitt-type sweeties. Because I'd driven (though I had the option to crash at a friend's) that was motivation not to booze. But now I'm starving as I didn't have any proper dinner, and it's really a bit late to eat anything. I haven't even got any fruit or anything in. Ugh. These are the times I struggle with SW! Late night snacking....! Could get some baked beans I suppose :/

I lost 3lb at the weigh-in on Thursday! Not an amazing first week, but considering I wasn't 100% flawless I'm happy with that.

Thing is last night I went to a BBQ - I hardly ate anything, but I did drink more than a bottle of wine. If I started with 10,000 flexible syns I definitely came back with at least 9,000...

Then today was hungover, and try as I did I just had to get a sandwich from town when I got up (I'd unexpectedly crashed at a friend's place). It was a little brown bread egg mayo sandwich which I thought in the grand scheme probably wasn't terrible. But then tonight was a family BBQ and even though I prepared myself some separate food (quorn sausages, grilled veg) I just couldn't resist the lovely bread, cheese, and oily salads they'd got. Ugh.

Never mind, new day tomorrow. I still have until Wednesday (my normal weigh day) to fix things.

Well, it's been a very boozy week, but I have been on holiday. I'm hoping that living off of the super speed curry and scan bran will make up for the wine.... Missed this week's weigh in :( due to unforeseen circumstances, but shall definitely go next week!

I weigh in on Tuesdays and after mucking about am now on the case properly. I lost 3.5 lbs last week - and you lost 3! So well done us! Liked the late night baked bean option - I think they are ok cold, straight from the tin when I'm really hungry/too lazy to get anything else, with a little tabasco added. Good luck!

Paper Crane, like Bess I love the name... would love to make 1000 paper cranes too, but only a dozen or so down so far! Good luck on your journey, you've made a great start! This is my first SW week after three of failing to get the hang of it... so here goes!
