Oh yes there is!!
Today I am having 2 (yes, 2!) packets of tomato and herb cup-a-pasta. It claims to be a "filling snack" so as it's my lunch I'm having two!
I am also bringing back the Homemade Pot Noodle. I discovered these thanks to the genius of my darling Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall/River Cottage last September/October. I had them everyday for weeks and then stopped when I changed jobs.
So, tomorrow I shall be bringing them back!
I think tomorrow will be;
- fine noodles (you need fine ones or they don't cook quick enough
- chicken bovril
- mixed herbs
- finely chopped sugar snap peas
- and maybe a small blob of tomato puree (1 tbspn is 0.5 syn, but you need less than a 1tsp for this, so I don't syn it, rebel!).
Also nice in these is extra light Phile (synned or HE).
I put all the dry ingredients into a lock-n-lock style tub (round, tallish ones, similar shape to a Pot Noodle), and the wet ingredients into a little one. Then, at lunchtime I put the wet into the dry and add hot water (quantity depends on how saucy I am feeling!) and then leave it to stand for around 5 minutes, until the noodles soften.
Yummo!
Much better for you than Pot Noodle as it doesn't contain half the rubbish or fat!
So, yes, in my house, there is such a thing as a free lunch - plenty of them!
What are your favourite office friendly (no micro or toaster here!) free lunches?
