Day 1: A few questions

Heya,

I got my shipment yesterday and started today. So far so good. I really didn't care for the vanilla shake (especially the smell!), but I think I just need to start tinkering with it by using a blender so it's not clumpy- maybe adding ice or coffee the way everyone talks about. Lunch, enh, but I could totally eat the toffee bars every day, and I like that they're pretty discreet, so I won't feel self-conscious bringing them into work and no one will have to know my business :) I really loved the thai soup for dinner, and I know it's not a favorite, so I was pleasantly surprised. Now for the questions:

1. Was I supposed to get a welcome packet or something? I got all my food, but nothing else. And I'm a fan of all the program goodies and explanations. I'd also like to be able to see the nutritional info of the bars, which isn't on the product like for the soups and shakes.

2. What is this I hear about ketosis? Everyone seems to be talking about it here. But I've done Atkins before, and you're supposed to have fewer than 20 carbs per day in induction. and avoid carbs that are sugar entirely. That's about the level of carbs in one meal of Exante! The Exante meals actually seem pretty well balanced in terms of fat, carbs and protein. It's much more just low calorie than low carb I think. Maybe you would get mild ketosis on 60 carbs per day. but I want to know if low-carb is actually a component of this. There are a few meals I'm not going to be able to stick to this program (firm dinner, etc.). It's much easier to eat 200 calories of carbs at these things and not look weird than 200 calories of meat- or even find meat without carbs!

Anyway, sorry so long-winded. But feedback would be good. I'm actually a little relieved that this isn't as low-carb as Atkins, as that thing made me want to eat my own arm as meat after awhile ;)

Oh, and final note: something a little wrong with an entire month of food weighing less than my typical daily grocery shopping :p

You'll still be able to get into ketosis on this diet if you stick to the three packs. Although it is the low calories that results in such speedy weight loss; the ketosis will hopefully reduce your hunger pangs, and I think ketosis encourages your body to burn more from the fat supplies than from muscle.

If you check out thee ante FAQ thread in thee ante sticky section, there's a link to the longer version of the booklet, although they don't seem to send this one out any more. Have a look round this forum though, as there's loads of good info around; their customer services is also really good, so email them if you have any questions.

Welcome and good luck :)
