Back to group mini moan

I finally went back to a group this week. I avoided my Monday night group because it was a bit cliquey and the C was a bit of a ditz.
So, my new group.... They're all really friendly, but quite an elderly group so there's not really any banter. And it went on for nearly 2.5 hours-it was almost 10pm when I got home!
As for my new C... well I weighed in at 12st exactly. The C asked if I had a target in mind and I said ideally between 8.5 and 9 stone. I was flabbergasted by her response-she said that 12 stone to 8.5 was quite a lot to lose and that I should aim for about 10 stone because that's probably all I could manage!
Now I'm sure she probably didn't mean for it to sound how it did, but never the less, I was far from impressed. And I'm once again miffed about getting a seemingly cr*ppy consultant.
Rant over :D

Oh, I forgot to add, she said that in all of her groups the average first week's weight loss is between 4-10lb so that's what she'd be expecting
I think I just have a magnet for daft people!

Omg, I can't believe she would say that to you?? How tactless is that?! My God, what would she have said to me if I weighed in and said I wanted to get down to 10 stone?! I'd like to say I'd give her a peace of my mind, but usually in those situations, I stay slack jawed, in disbelief!
Don't let her get to you hun, is there another class in the week in your area that aren't these two groups? x

Use the anger and show her how stupid she is! You can do anything you set your mind to and don't let ANYone tell you otherwise!

I hate it when things like this happen to people at their first meeting, it could put people off SW altogether especially if it was their first time doing SW, people might think all consultants were like that.
I have usually found with any consultants I have had they have left it to me when I want to decide to set a target and have certainly always left it to me to decide what that target should be.
If 8.5 stones is right for you at your height than there is no reason at all that you won't be able to do it.
The second bit I thought was even worse - to say what weight loss she EXPECTS of you in the first week, thats terrible. Is there another group you could try?
If not you could just do as shrimpy says and stick with it and prove her wrong!

Seems reakky strange for her to try and put a target in place which is higher than the one you want to put in place. You get to go for free once you're at target so you'd think she'd be more likely to encourage you to set a tough target - unless of course your intended target weight was below the lowest weight they allow you go for? Either way, she's not exactly been tactful is she?

There are a few other groups but they're in slightly dodgier parts of this area, they also don't fit as well time/day wise as I work shifts.

I'm 5ft 2.5" and she's set me a target of 10 stone, whch would put my BMI at 25 or 26. Not that I hold much regard for the BMI thing. According to the table in the choose success booklet, the lowest acceptable target weight for someone of 5ft 2" is 7st 11lb. The lowest acceptable target weight for someone who is 5ft 3" is 8st 1lb so I'm really failing to see a problem with 8st 7lb!

I understood that the training for C's they are advised to say lets get your 10% plus a little bit more and then see from there, otherwise it seems like a big challenge - certainly not sticking up for her - my C is great - I should say WAS great, texting and involving people - then all the new people started in January and she;'s kinda forgot the oldies - like me - I have struggled since Christmas and she hasn't so much as asked me how things are going or text to say - can see you are struggling a bit - can I help? etc.

Hope your C improves.
