Dukan or Total Food Replacement?

Hi all !!

I was told about the Dukan diet today, apologies for my ignorance but I had not heard of it before!

I have done a Total Food Replacement diet before (Lipotrim) and been very successful. I am about to embark on a new weightloss mission having let things slip.

I am particularily Carb intollerant, look at a spud, pasta etc and the weight goes on! I enjoy the weightloss of TFR, but by nature it is obviously very difficult to get into, and stick at such a strict regime.

So.......... now I have heard of Dukan, some quick research is required!

Could this work for me? How easy is it to stick to? Is it easy to follow, or does it require a degree in neutrition? Is it OK to exercise etc at the start?

Sorry for the newbie/numpty questions, but I am a newbie/numpty!! Have found in the past, that the best advice comes from those on a diet, not necessarily from those trying to sell you a diet!!

I love your name :)

OK - obviously we'd recommend Dukan rather than meal replacements, cos that's what we've chosen.

It's very easy to do, and once in (light) ketosis, you're not hungry any more. Strenuous exercise isn't recommended during the first phase, but that's only a few days.

Briefly, in that first phase, you only eat protein.
In the second phase, you alternate protein days with protein and veg days.
Third phase is once you've reached target and is crucial. 10 days for every kilo lost (or 5 per pound if you prefer).
Fourth is the rest of your life.

I'd advise visiting the Dukan official website to use its calculator to fix your "true weight", and it'll tell you how many days it recommends for phase 1.

I'd then advise you get the book. Clear your cupboards, diary etc of any difficult situations until you get into phase 2 by which time you'll be better equipped to face them.

Happy deciding!
I'd recommend

Thanks.

I fully understand the ketosis bit, go through that with TFR. I dont actually find it that difficult (must be odd!).

Just done the site registration, and ordered the books. Will see whats what when they arrive!!

Do you get dizzy spells? Thats the main worrying thing on TFR.

Not at all. No dizzy spells, no hunger.

Check out our menu thread and you'll see what we're eating. (NB: those who bother to post their menus on the thread are on Cruise (phase 2) - some newbies might be on attack, but wouldn't have found their way there.)

You need to find oatbran... do you cook? We have lots of recipes for turning them into something quite edible (1.5 tablespoons a day in attack, 2 thereafter in Cruise).

Yes not a bad cook (someone has to be, my wifes idea of cooking is warming things up in the oven!), so quite happy to try new things.

Thanks for the advice, I will have a look through the recipes here, and the recipe book when it arrives, and plan from there!

Good luck. i was on lipotrim too. Worked well, but dukan is a lot easier!
