I think we sometimes lose sight of the fact that, whilst Atkins can shift a lot of weight, quickly - particularly during the first two weeks - it is not designed to be a fast loss diet. It is a lifestyle and attitude change. We can eat delicious healthy food. Normal, everyday, regular food denied to us on so many other diet plans.
On Atkins we are at all times preparing for eventual maintenance. Learning how to eat in moderate amounts and finding out just how many, or how few, carbs our individual bodies can tolerate without stalling or regaining.
Every time I cheat on carbs - and sometimes we just seem unable to resist, no matter how long we've been low-carbing - I feel sluggish and bloated and almost poorly. Then I get back in the saddle and start to feel better again.
This is a longer haul way of eating and living. When we temporarily forget just how much Atkins has given us, we are only being human. Atkins will always be there for us, waiting for us to come back!
