Hey brides to be!

Wonder if anyone can give me some dress advice? I'm getting married June 2012 and read in a wedding magazine that you should choose your dress 9-10 months before the wedding!!!!!! how many fittings do you usually have? i'll hopefully be much smaller on my big day than i will be when i "should" be picking my dress! Should i leave it until around 6 months before the wedding so that its more accurate?! or is that too late to secure a wedding dress??!:confused::confused:

Hi, congratulations on ur upcoming wedding :-D

I chose my dress in jan last year(getting married this june) however I didn't get my measurements taken until sept.

I was told when u initially order dress a bale of the material is cut and then kept awaiting measurements.

Don't get any actual fittings until dress comes in2 shop which they said would be approx 6 weeks before wedding.

Don't know if this is how it works everywhere but this has been my experience

Xx

Hi,

I'm getting married June 2011, I ordered my dress in Jan.

The owner of the dress shop is lovely but the other ladies, whenever I phone up, kind of do a sharp intake of breath and say dresses usually take 4-6 months to come in....... this is my biggest wedding worry at the minute.

If your seamstress is any good she will be able to adjust it to fit you, so if I could do it again I would probably go a bit sooner.

Tell the lady you're planning on losing some weight, depends on the type of dress how much room for taking in there is. She should be able to give you some advice.

Good luck and happy hunting!

hi

I put the deposit down on my dress about 2 weeks ago and my wedding is June 2012.

They didn't order a size for me but they suggested I am a 16 at present (I'm actually more like an 18 but I didn't argue lol), anyway, when they ordered the dress they just said no size is specified and then in January 2012 I'll be called up to be fitted and then in May 2012 I'll be called up again for final fittings
that suits me down the ground- plenty of time to get into a 14....it could happen, couldn't it? (off to pray!)

of course it could happen Karen and it will. You've got your focus, how much weight are you hoping to lose?

K xx

about 2.5 stone possibly more

That can definitely happen.

I lost over 5 stone in 6 months for my wedding in July this year. Now I just have to keep it off but as I want to keep it off for life I need to get used to it anyway

How did you lose so much in such a short space of time?

my mother in law to be has lost 4 stone since October doing slimming world, swimming twice a week and zumba

Hey

Sorry I'm only just replying.

I was on Lighter Life. I lost 4 stone in 4 months during the VLCD (shakes, soups and bars) and then lost 1.5 stone when eating again just by being careful.
