I started sw a week ago and lost 5.5 pounds. Bought myself some bathroom scales and had a weigh in at home and weighed more. Does anyone else do that or is it a bad idea.

Bad idea-return them or hide them. If you are doing well it means you will think "ah well I have been so good-I can have that (insert vice here)" or if you are doing bad you will thing "this is rubbish-what's the point I'm going to have (insert vice here)"
That's what happened to me.
My housemate has hidden mine-I have no idea where they are.

It makes weigh ins a bit more fun-the element of surprise.

personally i think its a bad idea hun. and from what ive seen on here people that usually weigh at home get worked up cause their scales has showed a gain and then they go to group they have actually lost weight!! weigh in is only once a week anyway so its prob best left to do it at group where the scales is actually 100% accurate :)

I really like to weigh mid way through the week- it helps with my motivation one way or the other- If I have lost wuhu!!! I know not to undo the good- if I am up - then it kick ass time!!
I ignored the scales during Christmas hols- and had a lovely 9 lb gain- so now I just check at the weekend or Monday- I weigh in Wed.
I find it helps- but wouldn't do it daily!! or get obsessed.....

I know what people are saying and why, I guess it depends what kind of person you are - I weigh myself daily as i find it interesting to see bow my weight fluctuates through the week and around my time of the month. It's also interesting to see that I often don't show a gain after a large meal but it will come on a couple of days later.

I was discussing this with a gp who said she does exactly the same and thinks it's good to get a feel for your body. As long as you don't get disheartened by it and you take the scales at group as your official monitor (remember all scales are so different, I'm over half a stone lighter on my parents scales!!) then I don't think you need to bin them. But you know yourself so do what feels best for you x x

I think everyone does this for their first few weeks but I agree that once a week is better, same time, same scales as someone else has already said. I spent my first few weeks weighing myself every morning lol, not good! :)

I've been weighing myself eveyday for the last 4 months as I find it interesting to see how my weight fluctuates on a day to day basis (I'm even sad enough to keep a graph). I only ever take my Thursday weight as the official rate and has helped me when I've had a gain. I can see if it is a fluctuation or an actual gain, so those weeks when I've 100% and still gained I haven't felt bad and wondered why I've bothered when the next day I've had a loss. The key is that you have to know tha you won't go off plan because you've had a loss and feel you can relax, or because you've had a gain and can't see the point in continuing.

I know it spoils the excitment of weigh in, but it also means I can be excited today rather than Thursday as I was under 10 stone for the first time in over 10 years today.

I hate that I have to see my weight change to use the wii, what a pain in the bum!

I use the wii as well but find sometimes I get a bit obsessed and I'm on it every day.
I try to stay off it except for once a week now.
I know people who end up weighing themselves everytime they go to the bathroom.
It can get a bit obsessive.

I dont weigh myself at home because I did this once and it showed I had STS, so I was really down the rest of the week, but at W I it showed a loss of 1lb! I wont be doing that again, but I know how tempting it is.

I'm a serial weighed at home on the wii. I did get caught out though! I was told I'd Gained 4lbs so I though screw this and the rest of my week was a mess! An at wi I sts so I probably would have lost if I hadnt weighed at home and not lost motivation!!

I still weigh but take it as a ponce of salt it's my C scales that tell me the truth!! X

Im also a daily weigher, its become a bit of a habit now but i dont let it effect my mood in anyway. WI day is Tuesday and have found im at my lowest weight on a wednesday morning it can be -2 or 3lbs lower than my WI weight, but hey-ho.
