Why won't the weight shift!?

Hello everyone, I thought I'd finally post after browsing this site for a while :)

I've been on a healthy eating/diet for around 8 weeks now. Before this I used to eat a lot of junk food like crisps, sweets, chocolate and generally overeat quite badly. Anyway, the first week I cut down a lot ate smaller portions but not too much differently as I didn't want to put my food in starvation mode or anything, I lost about 3/4 of a pound. The following week I ate more healthy and had around 5-6 small meals, and ate nuts, low fat yogurts the works and lost 2lbs! Result! This carried on and I lost 1lb the following week but ever since then I've been losing like 1/4 of a pound at the maximum :( I'm getting really fed up now. I started off at 14 stone and am now 13 stone 5.5. I'm 5ft3 and 21 by the way. I thought the weight would come off much quicker considering how much differently and healthily I'm eating, I'm even doing more exercise!

Does anyone have any advice as to what I could do to speed it up a little? I don't want to lose weight too fast, like 1-2lb a week would be a great sensible amount, 1/4 of a pound is really frustrating for the amount of work I put in!

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you :D

Hiya and welcome to Mini's. I think you've got to look at the bigger picture here pet. You've been eating healthily for the past 8 weeks and shed 8.5lbs? That's fantastic! It sounds like you're doing everything sensibly and remember slow and steady wins the race. I wish I could take a leaf out of your book.:D Maybe weigh yourself every 2-3 weeks instead?

hi bobbina, First of all well done for the amount u have already lost> I understand that You have eliminated all the baddies from your diet and instead eating a lot healthier which is a very good start, what concerns me and what might be the real issue with yr loss is that u maybe eating too many calories, in some cases people think because they are eating healthy they should loss masses of weight, but what they don't understand is that they are probably consuming too many calories and fats, nuts are good but have a lot fat and calories so it could be that some of the healthy foods ie nuts thay you are eating is interfering with yr loss....Next time watch your fats and calories intake, this might help u.

Aw, thanks everyone for the replies really kind! :) I know I should go easier on myself 8.5lb is better than nothing, right? It's just frustrating with such a huge diet change, I want to look slimmer and become more confident!

I don't know if I could brave running just yet, I'm trying to raise my metabolism by having smaller meals at more frequent intervals but it's obviously not working as well as I'd like :D Thanks for your suggestion though!

I am having between 1,300 and 1,500 calories a day. I keep a track of my daily intake. I have mixed unsalted nuts and dried fruit about 4 times a week maximum and I work them out to be about 150 calories maximum, I only have a small handful at any time. I realise that they are very high in fats but can be considered good fats and part of a balanced diet if eaten in moderation? Thanks for your help too :)
