sorry to rant but not happy . had my dog Darcy for over two years and never gone any where with her in past as too embarrassed with my weight.at xmas was given extra £50 in my wages and was told to take my dog away for a day/night etc as a thank you for walking it to work and back when snow was bad. managed to book a night in a hotel for us both so here we are, today and tomorrow. any way been walking through the town and lots of snide comments over over her being a little fat them went into cafe and was told she obviously likes her food. had this when i was big and went out now getting pissed off. took her to skegness on Monday as have booked this week off work and the size she is was the norm over there . i know she is over weight that's why she is now on a diet . but doesn't give people the right to make comments about me or my dog . i might have been dragged up etc in my family but i leant not to hurt others for no reasons. any way sorry to bore you all but sat in room too pissed to go back out at moment.

Do not let a few ignorant, unfeeling, uninformed people spoil your time away with your dog.

Darcy is a lucky dog to have you as an owner. You are so caring and doing your very best for her.

If I come back on this earth as a dog I hope it is with someone like you.

Oh Fable, I am so sorry :-( sometimes the more people I meet the more I like my pets! Dont let these rude people spoil your holiday, sod 'em. Go out for a nice walk and hold your head high!!!
Xxx

thank you fillymum its just got me so angry. neighbours used to comment on us both being over weight and theres no need for people to be so rude.

your right woodland girl . we are going to venture out again .my dog huffs so I'm going to learn her to do it on command.lol

Excellent! I love the idea of a huffy dog! I also teach my kids at school how to do a good eye roll. It's a great way of dealing with comments too ridiculous to bother commenting on. I just hope they never use it on another teacher !! Lol

stupid question, and I appologise if it offends, but is your dog some kind of assist dog?
I ask because I find it odd that you take your dog to work and that they allow a pet in a hotel and that a cafe would allow pets in too..

no don't worry it doesn't offend . my dog doesn't come to work with me but i work in meadowhall shopping centre and we get fined a thousand pounds each day if we don't open. i left my dog for longer them normal that week with a neighbour and walked the ten mile round trip to avoid them fineing us they gave me a xmas bonus like normal and gave her fifty for my neglect of her lol she spoilt etc. we have booked a hotel in bakewell that is pet friendly out of the money. as bakewell attracts the older generation they allow dogs etc to stay in they're hotels if they not aggressive. dogs are allowed in some of the shops and food places if on a lead. she loves it here as bring her on day trips through the summer so thought it would be nice to spend a night whiles on holiday from work.

Loads of hotels allow dogs. And I daresay a fair few other places too. Cafes certainly wouldn't object if the animal was outside either, generally speaking. Not sure about in the cafe coz of hygiene regs but most would be happy to get the business at this time of year to turn a blind eye surely? And some smaller employers wouldn't give a monkeys either - depends on the job, the atmosphere etc. No reason to assume it's a support dog.

hotels are starting to allow dogs etc especially in the winter months. wish Darcz could come to work with me ;-) have took her into meadowhall a few times when its been out of opening hours when there been an emergency and security phoned me etc so they turned a blind eye as we've snuck throngh one of fire exits. met another guest from hotel tonight she has same dog cavalier king Charles said people allways have a go as her dogs looks too skinny so says we can't win.

i have a black lab and he's on a doggy diet too. he's lost loads in the last year though! at the end of the day, it's your dog. i don't see why people are butting their noses in!
don't give them the time of day babe.

She looks such a little love. Your relationship with her is so close why not take her where ever you can. She is obviously as good as gold.

We often used to take 2 of our brood of 7 , the Jack Russel and the German Pincher, as they are both small, friendly little dogs, away with us and stay in hotels. They are very well travelled. We have even taken the 2 Great Danes on one occasion. They loved their trip to Barcelona lol !!!

They are such good company. I would never object to seeing a well behaved dog in a hotel.
