SOTW basket

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to know what you guys thought about this; in the SOTW basket someone put in two items that, once the consultant worked the syns out, they were about 6 syns each.

I was quite surprised and little bit upset that a member would put stuff in there that she didn't know the syn value of and which had quite high syns.
Its like me putting in a chocolate bar, its just handing someone temptation.

Is the SOTW basket supposed to only have free food donated?

My C asks you to bring fruit. Some people bring low or syn free things too.

Most people put in fruit or veg (particularly homegrown in the summer). We also get people putting in free or low syn stuff like baked beans, Alpen Lights and occasionally Pink'n'Whites.

I tend to put in fruit, bananas, kiwi, etc. As I haven't had the pleasure of being the SOTW YET!!! I don't know what other people put in!!!

Put in fruit, veggies, cereal bars(for hex's) thoguh i do have a mug shot which i got for sotw and i don't eat anything like that so I must remember it and take it back for the basket as its will be left to wallow here lol

Thanks guys. Thats what I thought the basket was for but it just shocked me that high syn treats would be put in there.

At my class people tend to bring in fruit and syn-free foods such as low fat supernoodles, mugshots, savoury rice, etc. Hope this helps x

Our basket tends to have free or superfree in it.

Synned items can be put in the basket but usually I write the syns on the tin/packet with perm marker so people know at a glance what the have. eg the chickpea dahl, free on EE/Green and the syns for red on the lid.

Mistakes can happen though - One week I got the basket and it had Kraft Cheesey pasta instead of Marshalls, the Kraft one is fairly high in syns from what I remember. The member was horrified when the counsultant pointed this out, it was a genuine mistake. I wasn't fussed either way.

I just fed it to hubby one evening so wasnt bothered tbh..

Sometime people get confused or don't realise thinking they're being nice and it's not deliberate sabotage. I mean, who would do that?

Fair enough. When the C pointed it out the member didn't seemed chased. Maybe I'm more sensitive to things like that x

Our basket has fruit and veg in. Once a lady put in some light supernoodles thinking they were free but when I checked with c she said they were something like 6 syns! The woman who put them in was mortified! Maybe it was a genuine mistake? On another note do you put something in if you're not staying to group?
