struggling today :-(

sorry to come on here and be negative i just need to moan :-( today is day 8 and is the first day i've really struggled being on this diet. I had kippers for tea last night and since i ate them i've felt really sick (not saying it was the kippers of course). i woke up this morning, same sickly feeling and couldn't stomach the smoked salmon salad id made for dinner. I had a bad morning in work and really just wanted a burger king. I lost 4 pound since last week which I think was what stopped me going but i needed something other than salad, cheese meat or eggs! then i come home and my cross trainer i've bought theyve still not sent me the right parts and i wanted to go on it and now i just feel like ordering a pizza :-(
I'm so bad tempered and simple stuff gets to me!

I've had today:

Atkins bar 2.1g
Mini sausages and pate 3.9g
Pork pie :-( 14.1 g
and an atkins endulge bar 1.8 :-(

over my 20g and no veg (on the bright side ive drunk loads of water)

Im going to go have a shower and see when I come out if i can talk myself into a cheese and bacon omlette with rocket instead of this pizza thats going round in my head.

sorry to sound depressing i just needed to get it out my system!!

hey............... you're doing well ...... you are actually going to talk yourself out of the pizza , you don't need us !! no diet is easy .... keep going xx

Hey Fb. Sorry to hear you are feeling low. When u ate the kippers did u drink enough. If they were smoked then they can have salt and/or sugar in the preserving method. As u know salt will dehydrate u and sugar could trigger cravings. When I feel sick it I'd wen I've not drunk enough and it is usually coupled with feeling down.

You are human FB so being tempted is usual ESP in a world of fast food and tempting treats. Take a breather and remember that it's Monday the most exhausting part of the wk. Get thro Monday and the rest will follow.

Stay with us FB this evening. U r doing fab whoop whoop xxx

aww thanks guys i feel much better now :) just drying my hair then going to make a cheese and bacon omlette.

rachieb, yeh maybe that's what is was. although i haven't really eaten anything bad over the weekend i've hardly drunk any water - plus had 4 small vodkas on saturday so maybe the sickly feeling is just dehydration.

i still wish dominoes was carb free though....maybe one day lol!

Sorry to hear ur struggling but ur not alone we all have days like these the thing is not to let it break u and undo all ur hardwork from the rest of the week ;)

I try to incorparate little treat snacks with my daily calories like quavers (only 88 cals so within my 100) and it stops me wanting to cheat because I dnt feel like Im depriving myself

maybe have ur omlette (which sounds yum btw) and have an early night 2moro's a new day, a better day! I know when Im having "one of those days" I just want it to end and wake up the next day and start fresh. Try and keep positive (easier said than done I know) we r all behind u :patback:

You can have burger king. On induction. And it's better for you than some of what you've had today. I travel between classes quite a lot and often stop in to bk or mcd along the way. At bk I usually go for a double cheeseburger - no ketchup on it, and then hold the bun and push the burger out at the edge so I can eat the burger but no bun. I count it as 4g carbs. At mcd's I'll get a quarter pounder no ketchup or a couple of hamburgers and do the same. If you're taking it home or sitting down there, grab plastic cutlery and eat it with that from the paper, tossing the bun back into the bag. You need the willpower not to order chips and to ditch the bun, but it still feels like having fast food.

On the other hand your pork pie, if you ate the pastry, was full of white flour. You can't unfortunately just eat anything under your 20g carbs - a lot of the point of Atkins is to keep your blood sugar level and white flour and sugar are like bullets shooting your insulin levels up. If you have cravings later, the pie will be why. Your carbs should be spread through the day as evenly as possible. Those endulge bars also aren't meant for induction as they're insulin raising.

Well well well well done for resisting the pizza. We all have bad days and I've looked longingly at the menu too. But pizza will be there when you're at target. Get a chicken breast, butterfly it open and bash it thin, then grill it and put mozzarella and mushroom and pepperoni on. It's not a terrible substitute.

Good luck, hope you feel better tomorrow.

Er, and I think the person above is from slimming world. No quavers!

hey rosebug,

yeh i ate the pastry unfortunately. luckily i don't seem to be craving anything, i had my omlette and seem ok for now. i like your idea about burger king, however i think if id gone today with the way i was feeling i'd have eaten the bun, ordered chips and probably a milkshake and onion rings to go with it!

are the endulge bars not ok for induction, uh oh. i thought it said all phases but i looked at a few so i may have got confused. It's a learning curve I guess.

I think i've put more research into my food recently than my studying lol! i long for the day you can eat anything and you remain slim! hehe

I'd have had the burger minus the bun as well

Oh Im not familiar with atkins but the burger king idea seems worth a bash, but I understand ur apprehension at maybe getting over-tempted when going in. The internet is the key google treats on atkins might un-cover something that takes ur fancy :)

You can make low carb pizza either with a flaxmeal base or perhaps a low carb pitta from lowcarbmegastore or avidlite. The pittas are not suitable for Induction, strictly speaking, but one now and again surely would boost your morale and keep you on-plan.

Just take a low carb pitta, a thin layer (thin!) of pasta sauce or tinned tomatoes and herbs, and top with grated cheese. PIZZA! Since you eat meat you can add all sorts of extra toppings.
