Cheese

Soon to be Slim
Hi, do you know why we can only have a up to 110g of cheese per day on Induction, I can easily eat more than that? Would it really matter if we went over, it's not high in carbs so why does it matter?

Thanks

I don't know the specific reason why but I think cheese can stall a lot of people. Perhaps because cheese has Lactose in it?

Throughout my time low carbing I've eaten way, way more cheese than I should have and don't think its stalled me. I just ate half a block of stilton and want MORE dammit!

In my opinion it's probably to do with calories. Cheese is really calorific. I know Atkins isn't about calories but if I have too many calories in a day it does slow my weightloss down (especially with only a few lbs to go).

i didn`t know it

thank you very much that you post this. i didn`t really know that cheese is limited. the fisrt 4 days i didn`t eat any, but i am afraid i would eat more than 100 g,if you didn`t wake me up. i am just chewing cheese slices...enough.thanks a lot

Cheese is not zero carb. And as Michael says it is very high in calories.

Induction is designed to clean us out, so to speak, cut all unecessary extra carbs and get us into proper ketosis. Many people go nuts on cheese, and also go nuts on nuts which is why they are forbidden during Induction (lol).

Atkins has been carefully worked out over many years to give us the least painful journey from carbville to ketotown (yes it sounds horribly cheesy ha ha) and we tend to do best when we follow the rules.

I could eat an awful lot of cheese every day if permitted. Just as well it isn't!

thanks girlygirl.
I am planning to finish the few slices i have in the fridge and go off cheese next week. I didn`t eat cheese the first 4-5 days and actually i didn`t eat as much as i do now. I can simply live on cheese only and everything with loads of cheese is delicious and temptating.
If it wasn`t because of the cheese topping i would have eaten so much chicen and meats this weekend. Today i am on meckerel /it doesn`t go well with cheese/.
I still love the diet. Can`t thank you enough

You are allowed cheese. I think the recommended maximum amount is 4 oz or about 100g a day. You only need to cut it out if it stalls you.

Well, I overdosed on cheese yesterday as I was having a bad day, didn't go off the plan but did go overboard in the cheese department and what do you know I put on weight this morning, shame on me:(

So I have answered my own question, haven't I!

I'm the same, cheese always stalled me and even now if I eat too much I'll gain

Yep too much cheese and I am in trouble. Yet since I am vegetarian I really need cheese for extra protein and fat!

And I love the stuff lol.

Cheese is a major staple of my Atkins diet. I doubt I stick to 100g a day ever. Had more than that this morning (breakfast and then two cheesestrings)
